The difficult thing about rebooting a "cinematic universe" though, is that what if one of the other movies turn out to be successful? That is true. All of the DCEU films have profited nicely, so WB and DC will be reluctant to throw in the towel just yet. However, remember that Sony made good money with The Amazing Spider-Man films. The first "Amazing Spider-Man" film did get positive reception, but the second one was so divisive that it damaged the Spider-Man brand's momentum going forward. I have a feeling that BvS will be the peak of the DCEU, and if the solo Batfleck film doesn't get shooting by the time Justice League is out, it's either dead or will fall flat on its face (at least in terms of reception). Heck, if "Justice League" itself also gets negative reception from both the critics AND the fans/audiences, then the franchise could possibly be in serious doo-doo going forward. If there's more behind-the-scenes trouble and the films continue being divisive or total clunkers, then I wouldn't be surprised if another TASM situation comes up and WB and DC more or less allow the franchise to run its course, then wait for a little while and try again after some serious reorganization.

If Affleck doesn't start FILMING The Batman before JL comes out, I think it'll be pretty clear that he's done. this pretty much. personally Umberto is very hit or miss, remember when BvS was going to come out and he said "WB wasn't nervous, and they just had pre-game jitters?" or when he said "Brainiac will be the JL villain?" all coming from very reliable sources.... :/ now outside of Umberto and John, and even Hughes yeah I do believe Affleck may want out. I've written this 27 times before, but he spent 8 years of his life trying not to be a public/critical joke, and the critical backlash of the DCEU probably isn't what he wants after rolling the stone uphill for so long.

not looking to attract anger from anyone, but man, Snyder must have a silver tongue behind closed doors or something.

I agree for the most part here, but the WB doesn't need Affleck for shit. It's not like he's so important as a draw it's some sort of leverage he can hold over them.
And to recast before the solo film comes out, despite how bad DC is sucking, would just be a crazy thing to do after building him up in that role.
So I think WB will hold him to finishing his contract, and if he doesn't work with WB after, then it doesn't hurt them in the slightest. They have plenty of other actors to work with.

Perhaps the film is being seen as the next reboot. Sort of halfway, like Batman Forever.

Why is it every time there's another DCEU update, it's just more news of it becoming a bigger and bigger mess?

Why is it every time there's another DCEU update, it's just more news of it becoming a bigger and bigger mess? Because they have no plan and no genuine care for the product.
Just look at how they had no idea they would bring in Batman after Man of Steel. There wasn't a long term plan in place at all. The announcement of Batman showing up in the sequel didn't take place on screen? That's a major screw up. A complete waste of the death of Superman story tacked onto BVS for no reason? And now they're all over the map. A Harley Quinn solo? How in the hell is that supposed to drive a central narrative? It isn't. They've lost 5 or 6 directors. Affleck wants out. It's insane how disorganized they are.
For comparison watch Kevin Feige's brief summary of the MCU during the Infinity War sneak peak. He clearly lays out that they have had a streamlined vision for the past 10 years to get to where they are today. And that is why the MCU has not only been able to maintain consistent high quality, but to improve dramatically as they go, continuously impressing with what they are able to pull off with amazing success. Nobody thought they could nail the Avengers, and few thought they could stick the landing with Thor and Captain America: TFA. Then nobody thought Guardians would work. Nobody thought Ant Man would work. And everybody was amazed at how flawlessly the massive ensemble cast of Civil War did every character in it justice.
It's because they care, and DC doesn't.

Careful how you say that. According to DennisReynolds, Marvel's "series-style" management of the series makes it soullness creation and DC should have just let the filmmakers do whatever they want.

I look forward to your disappointment at DC running the DC cinematic universe as a series like Marvel runs theirs'. So much for that insipid filmmaker-driven approach.

You forgot to put an "a" in there. If you're going to insult someone, use proper English.
