When I was a kid and saw "Creepshow" for the first time, I remember being spellbound by Adrienne Barbeau's comic performance as the super bitchy wife, "Billie Northrup" and seriously thinking that she was going to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. I was so naive back then, though her performance remains to this day a very funny one.

I think it was too low budget. Unlikely the film got submitted for awards scrutiny.

The Oscars don’t think too highly of horror, just to put it lightly.

I enjoy her performance, she's very entertaining, but not transcendent to the point that it rises above the material of a cheesy horror B movie. And that's what you need for a genre movie to be in consideration for mainstream awards. She was good, but nothing particularly special.

I doubt it would have even been considered or registered Mr. dirtypillows , being the film it was. She wouldn't have even been on the radar. 1982 is perhaps not a good year to want a nomination for one of your favorite cult performances, in an extremely strong year for both leading and support ladies. Carol Burnett for Annie and even one of your favorites Karen Black in Come Back To The Five And Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean missed out on deserving nods. Oh, I know that. I was just trying to convey my adolescent mentality, thinking that she would have even been mentioned for an Oscar for Creepshow was silly. But speaking of "Come Back to the 5 & 10..." all three leads were very, very good. And Sandy Dennis never got recognized by the Academy again after her 1966 win. She and Karen were both on the quirky side. Did you ever see 976-EVIL, Toasted Cheese? It's a pretty good little horror film. I've always liked Stephen Geoffreys, and Sandy Dennis is very funny as the high octane oddball mother!

I think Ken Foree should have received a best actor nom for Dawn of the Dead 1978. Followed by a supporting actor nod for his portrayal of Big Joe Grizzly in Halloween 2007. What can you do.

I think Karloff should have gotten a nomination for Bride of Frankenstein and Lugosi should have gotten a nomination for Son of Frankenstein (I know 1939 was highly competitive, but I'm sure Bela was never even given a thought).

No one gives two fvcks for Bela. Dadain't Bela It just popped in to my head when you were talking of Bela being dissed for worthy Oscar nods. Of course Landau won an Oscar for playing Bela.

I prefer her more nuanced performance here:
