Do you think that people used to spot Dragons the same way as they spot UFO's in modern times?

If you are talking about flesh and blood, fire breathing flying lizards... Then I highly doubt it... As far as I know, scientists have yet to prove their existence, and so they remain just a fictional creature.
However, we do know that Ancient peoples had a much smaller vocabulary, than we do today...
IF... Ancient peoples had witnessed aliens or astronauts landing their spacecraft right in front of them, they would have had to use other terms, than we would use today, to describe what they saw... Perhaps this description is one such event:
"Gods descended from heaven upon their chariots which emitted fire & smoke."
That makes NO sense at all, Since we all know, that... God doesn't need a Starship to travel around the universe! (Thanks To Captain Kirk!)
Assuming for a moment, that ancient peoples were not just making up religious fables...
Then using the words: "Gods" or "Dragons", would have to have been a mis-interpretation of what they actually witnessed...
Some kind of advanced technology? Who knows... Maybe someday, a discovery will be made, that will proven that to be true.
A celestial event, like a Comet, or a Meteor? Probably the most likely scenario...
Ancient peoples calling a Meteor, a "Dragon"?
I can believe that...

Do you think that people used to spot Dragons the same way as they spot UFO's in modern times? Jacques Valee makes a compelling case that dragons, elves, UFO's and other cases are all a manifestation of the same underlying phenomena, which takes on the characteristics of the culture in which it appears. In other words, they aren't aliens making pointless visits to farmers and doing scientifically ridiculous tests--that's just how the brains of people surrounded by science fiction tropes filter what is happening to them.

Oh no, I'm sure they were convinced they were real when they found dinosaur bones by accident.
