Nothing like that. I've had a few delayed but never completely lost. I did order a book a few years ago, The Conservative Case for Trump by Phyllis Schlafly. It arrived on time but someone at Amazon had ripped the book from its binding and dragged it in dirt. At least I hope it was just dirt. Subtle, huh?

I ordered a book of Spider-man comics collected in one giant volume and they charged me $80 in border duty fees. My friend who had sent me the book was upset because she used UPS and they were known to rip people off that way.
So we got the money back with another large book--she sent it to me as educational material and it got through with only about $3 of stamps. A total fluke I assume--the mail people were too lazy to fuss about it and let that sucker through!

I don't think I've ever had a physical book delivered to me.

It happened to me a few times and always around Christmas. I once ordered a book in late October that was intended as a Christmas present for a friend, but it only arrived in February.
I had a few books lost, and annoyingly it's usually the ones I'm looking forward to reading the most. The last time it was a book on Jim Thompson which somehow got lost in the mail, I hope it ended up with a fellow Thompson fan at least.

I once ordered a book, it didn't arrive. After I contacted the online store, they gave me the option for a new product or a refund. I went with the product and it arrived very fast.

I bought a book on Pontiac GTOs through Amazon and it was delivered soaking wet. It was packaged in one of those white flimsy plastic type mailers. It was dry at my house (hadn't rained in a week or so) so it wasn't sitting out in the elements before I picked it up. I sent it back to Amazon and the next one was completely wet as well. Both appeared to have been sent from Kentucky location (I assume their warehouse) so perhaps that particular box of books was water damaged and no one seemed to think I wouldn't accept it.
Not a book, but I bought the Criterion bluray of La Notte from Amazon as well and it was delivered with an unsealed DVD case (not a bluray case) and no disc inside. Both the book at the bluray I had bought within the past 3 months or so. I wonder what's going on?

I once got the wrong book from the Outdoor Life Book Club. I sent it back with such a poorly written explanation that they sent another copy of the same book. So, half them, half me.

I was once sent a paperback by Amazon and part of the back cover was torn off.
They gave me a choice of a refund or another copy. I took the latter. They didn't ask me to send back the first copy.

I have never had any problem with anything I bought online - but then I don't buy things online all that often - probably no more than five times a year.

I've had a couple of books from Amazon go missing but I received prompt refunds each time. I'm currently waiting for another book which should have been here already but hopefully it will come within the next few days.
