How is it only playing in one theatre in entire NYC?
If you have a chance, see it on the big screen.
Sandra Bullock is as great as always, the music is done by Raznor and Ross so you Know its great, and who doesnt enjoy a good post-apo survival movie right?
Very very entertaining one. And great to see Mr Malkovitch in the big screen again.
8/10 from me.
Ps: its doesnt make sense to say its derivative of the Quiet Place.

I saw the trailer on Netflix tonight. Watched more Norsemen instead. But added it to the queue. Looks well made. It’s in theaters at the same time?

It’s in theaters at the same time? it seems to be released only in one or two theaters. just saw it tonight at IFC in NYC, was great on the big screen. I can see how it loses some of its magic on a smaller screen, but still think its very well made and worth watching. Some of the critics feel like its too bland/unoriginal, rehashing some tropes similar to the Quiet Place and The Happening , but I feel it has brought some very new things, like never showing the creatures, I loved that, or explaining what is happening and why.
And in the center it has an extremely capable actress in a role fairly untypical for her, and she is surrounded by other capable actors and they have a genuinly awesome score to play along. Whats not to like?

Whats not to like? I immediately thought of both of those movies, but it still seems to have it’s own identity and aesthetic. Glad to hear all of that! I’ll try to catch it over this break. so they never show the creatures the whole time??

No, they never show any of the creatures or explain who they are and what is their motive. to me this was superb, as I feel in many horror movies the moment they show the "evil" the evil is only half as scary than before...

Nice! Yes. That makes for much better suspense/horror. And I love Spoilers. I read all I can. I even read the end of books first. 🤷♂️

I will do practically anything to avoid it. I stay offline rigorously and yell at my friends not to talk to me until i have seen it. I am SO UPSET with Ellen DeGeneres for spoiling one part of the movie for me on her show two days ago. How could she say that, in the interview with Bullock, is beyond me. I am NOT going to spoil it for you, hehe, you are going to have to watch it first and then Ill reveal what she said what upset me.

I even read the end of books first. 🤷♂️ Stephen King thinks the worst levels of Hell are reserved for people who read the ends of books first. I'm agnostic at best so I don't buy the Hell thing but I don't understand people who do that or who read spoilers. It seems like the same type of spoiled little brats who HAVE to have what they want right away or they pout and cry. Is there some other way to spin being terrified of experiencing a surprise?

Will check it out this week since I have Netflix and I had no clue that Reznor & Ross did the score for this (they are talented as hell so I am hyped for it now)

Thought it was pretty damn good (and not just for a Netflix film either) . Going into it, I was a bit worried about the ridiculous sounding premise but mostly everything worked for me here (and I thought the ending was a nice touch) Filled with some good performances led by Bullock .
Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross' score felt like some left over crap from The Social Network's score though haha (it wasn't as inspiring as their previous outings) . But thats just a minor complaint. Another minor complaint was Machine Gun Kelly . I wish we would have seen him die a spectacular death cause I can't stand that motherfucker! lol solid 7.5/10 (if you have Netflix or its playing near ya , definitely give it a watch)

The creatures were shown through the drawings Greg made. They were the gods from Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos.

I agree. Love the performances and the survival these people have to go through. I may even go out and say this was Bullock’s best performance. There are some logic issues here and there and it can be a bit too bleak for my liking, but I was so suckered in by the story it didn’t really take much away.
Also, while A Quiet Place is still the better film in my opinion, this movie is theoretically much more terrifying. I mean, not making a single sound in the world is one thing, but not being able to see? That’s prolly the one thing we all need to get around.
