I'm just rereading some of my old books until I get my next Amazon order of "pre ordered" books, the local library doesn't offer much and I no longer have the stomach to go there and put up with screaming kids, it looks more like a daycare center than a library.

I finished ASYMMETRY by Lisa Halliday on 1/1, so I am not really sure it should count as I read most of it in December 2018.
I am about 2/3 into GOOBYE, COLUMBUS by Philip Roth which I started on Dec 30 or 31, but will be mostly a 2019 read.
The first book that I started in 2019 is TAR BABY by Toni Morrison.

Starting the Wilde/Chase series by Andy McDermott. He sounds like his stuff is right up my alley.

At Christmas , I was given Nancy Wake by Peter Fitzsimons , which I'm starting to read now . Nancy Wake was one of the heroines of the French Resistance during WWII . There are many books written about her, including her own autobiography . Peter Fitzsimons gives a more well-rounded and informative view of the situations she was in , living with her while he wrote the book and visiting the areas she operated in , and meeting former associates from her wartime exploits .
The other book which I got , and am very excited about , was the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Complete Edition , It contains all 5 books of the series , and I'm looking forward to reading that over the coming months !
For my kids , they got Star Wars Scoundrels and Star Wars Aftermath .

It's a collection of previously published essays. Some are dull but some are hilarious.

Still unfinished from 2018: "Made in America: An Informal History of the English Language in the United States", by Bill Bryson. That sounds quite interesting. I have read and greatly enjoyed quite a few books by Bill Bryson, so when I saw the e-book version of this one on sale for a few bucks I bought it immediately. I have to say that I expected a bit more. Sure, it's full of interesting facts and anecdotes and it has some of the humourous turns of phrases that I like in the author, but at this point finishing it feels half chore/half pleasure. Maybe I would feel differently if I were American, I don't know.
