This may be a long shot, but I was thinking Paige could be a potential surprise entrant for this year's Royal Rumble. She has a movie coming out, and a return to the ring would be a perfect way for her to promote it, not to mention help out Smackdown's Women's Division since Raw keeps getting all the heavy hitters. She also never got a chance to face Asuka, which would've happened if Paige didn't have to retire. If she came back, they could finally have the match they were supposed to have, and for the championship.

With the sudden switch up of Balor taking Strowman's place as the #1 Contender to Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship it kind of throws things off for me.
On the one hand I thought that Drew McIntyre was a solid option because if Braun won the title Drew vs Braun seemed to make the most sense for the belt. However, is WWE now just postponing Strowman vs Lesnar for WrestleMania? It's hard to imagine Braun not winning the Rumble at this point since he's in it. Seth seems like the odds on favorite early on but idk, while I love Seth him being the guy to take the belt off Lesnar is rather lackluster to me. If Balor SOMEHOW beats Brock then shit, all bets are off on who wins the Rumble.
For now, I'm going to with Braun Strowman for the men.
In terms of the Women, Becky getting the title shot against Asuka throws shit off as there is no guarantee that she enters the Rumble. What SHOULD have happened was Becky either wins or there is somehow a tie between Ric Jr and Becky to further set up the triple threat against Ronda. However, because it's WWE and because Charlotte is Ric fucking Flair's daughter and every accomplishment or milestone gets handed to her she's basically a shoe in to just win the fucking thing. I'm just so damn sick of it. If she wasn't Ric's daughter she would just be another performer on the roster and nothing special what so ever. Instead, she's just gifted shit. Thank God for Becky otherwise the main event of WrestleMania may have been the most privileged main event of all time with Ric Jr vs Ronda.
So TLDR
Mens: Strowman Womens: Ric Jr

Last I heard Braun isn't cleared to wrestle so I doubt he'll win the rumble. He's not a great worker and has been exposed as a talker and character in the last couple of weeks. No way are the WWE giving him a WM main event slot. I tgink Rollins, though agree with whoever said that would be rather lackluster.
I don't get the Charlotte hate. Even if she wasn't Ric's daughter, she's still one of the best female workers in the company and a good talker. If anything she'd cut better promos if she wasn't Ric's daughter. She's clearly been the star and workhorse of the two triple threat matches she's been in recently. I don't get why Becky's in the women's title match to start with. She should be winning the rumble. Sasha's in a title match and announced as a rumble contestant, so it's not out of the question she could do both. The logical finish is a Hart/ Luger deal from 1994 where Becky and Charlotte go over together and both challenge Rousey.

I really like Rey Mysterio's chances of winning the men's Royal Rumble since he'd be facing Daniel Bryan, which would be a long awaited dream match.

Now we've seen RAW and SD, I'll make a prediction.
Charlotte's been the only one seriously pushed in the women's match. Unless Becky or Sasha enter after losing their title matches, she's the only winner that makes any sense.
In the men's again, Rollins has IMO been pushed badly, but he's the only one whose been pushed on RAW. On SD they've had Joe and Mysterio. No money in Joe vs Bryan/ Styles, same as McIntyre vs Lesnar/ Balor. So realistically Seth has to win, unless Strowman does. Personally I don't think either guy has what it takes. But whatever "it" is, Rollins has more than Braun.

I remember Orton jumping to the favorite a couple years ago like 24 hours before and that's when he won his 2nd. I can definitely see McIntyre being highlighted in the event somehow. Maybe he eliminates big name guys or maybe he has the Reigns/Kane role of eliminating the most participants type of deal only for Rollins to eliminate him from behind.

I can't see McIntyre winning as he's had multiple matches with Balor on Raw and would be heel vs heel against Lesnar. So I think it's Rollins. I don't really want to see Rollins/ Lesnar, but that's what we're getting.
My preferred option would be Styles winning and challenging Lesnar, but that ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, I mean I LOVE Rollins but at the same time I'm not exactly excited to see him win the Rumble and face off against Lesnar. I mean I'm sure it'll be a good match but I don't think the build up to it will be worth a damn for me to be emotionally involved. I'm trying to think of a good dark horse but I can't really think of one. If Balor beats Lesnar (won't happen) then anything is game imo. Maybe we get another surprise Batista win and Brock vs Batista at Mania? I wouldn't be excited for that either.
