I am STILL looking for a follow-up to what was for me, the single most enjoyable, entertaining, and exhilarating (fiction) book I've ever read. It was 1978, I was a senior in high school, and on the recommendation of my best friend's mom, picked up a copy of a book by this new Steve King guy, whom I had never heard of before. It's probably no surprise that that book turned out to be The Shining, and because of the 'thrill ride' I experienced with it, soon became a regular reader of every new release that 'Steve' put out, for many, many years to come. The other "first" (and still the only time it's ever happened) that came in reading that book, was the fact that I actually avoided reading it late at night........it SO 'spooked', and unnerved me, that I soon found that I was avoiding reading it during the dead of night, while the house was totally silent, which would inevitably cause my mind to race with all kinds of thoughts, the minute I put the book down and tried to get to sleep! And what's most amazing to me about reading King, is the fact that I am just NOT a fiction reader.....if I'm going to take the time to read an entire book, I want it to be about something 'real', and not just a bunch of made-up stories with no basis in reality. Well, 'Steve' put an end to that..............though I still read no other works of fiction, unless it has his name on it. And though I no longer read every single book he publishes ( 11/22/63 was the last new book of his that I purchased), Stephen King has provided me with a lifetime of not only entertaining reading, but also many hours of entertaining viewing while watching the many movies/shows based on his works! Thank You, Mr. King !! SAVE FERRIS

Thank You, Mr. King !! SAVE FERRIS What did you think of “under the dome”? That was the only Stephen king book I’ve read and i don’t think it was very popular, but I loved it (the tv show based on it was garbage though). I plan on reading 11/23/63 this year Haven't read it yet !! (It's in my 'queue', but still a a ways out (Same with 11/22/63.......I said I "purchased" it.......just haven't gotten around to READING it, yet!! Notice a bit of a pattern here ??)!!) Thank you, btw, for your comment about the show ("Under The Dome")......can't tell you how many times I've almost picked up some of those dvds...... SAVE FERRIS

Baboon Rock - Robert W. Krepps
Out of boredom I picked this one up from my high school library over 50 years ago and immediately fell in love with it. It's a tale of murder, kidnapping and jealousy/greed set during the early days of diamond mining in 1890's South Africa. The story is so engrossing and the writing style is so perfect that I didn't want it to end. I've re-read this one at least 15-20 times over the years.
