Do you find that you frequently need a dictionary when you write anything? I used to be a very good speller and had a much larger vocabulary than I do now, its like I've forgotten many words, they're stuck in the files of my brain but its getting tougher to find them. I'm ok when I'm reading and I still understand the words but when I'm trying to say or write something, I find I need to grab the dictionary to make sure I'm using the correct word. Maybe I'm getting senile.

As a frequent letter writer, I am sometimes confounded by certain words that defy my spelling ability, though as a youngster, grammar was my best subject. That said, I always keep an up to date dictionary, thesaurus, and synonym finder handy for reference. These references are invaluable to any serious writer.
