They sliced through the Spurs defence like a hot knife through butter.

Non transfer policy biting a huge chunk out of Spurs' ass now.

Spurs nick possession just inside the Palace half. It comes to Lucas. He looks across the area but there's no one to nourish. No one at all. He's no option but to fire. He does, and it rockets well over the bar.

The ball is floated into the Spurs box and it's en route for Wickham, but wait, Walker-Peters has other ideas and uses an arm to corrupt the path of the ball. The ref doesn't hesitate. Townsend steps up to the spot and fires it home. Two-nothing on '34.
MoPo hasn't left the dug-out yet. He looks very gloomy indeed.

Spurs free-kick outside the box. Trippier plays it short to Nkoudou who sees his shot parried away. It falls back to him but his second attempt is bundled away.
Foyth is assaulted on '42. Penalty for Spurs. A real chance to get back in this. Who is taking it? It's Trippier. He takes his little run-up, fires, and it goes shockingly wide. Unbelievable.
Spurs need to show us something second half. They came out well against Chelsea after the break in Thursday's League Cup tie after MoPo made some changes. Let's see how they approach it this time.

Lemela on for Vertonghen. He's going to a back four? He had to do something.

Better from Spurs.
Lucas goes down just outside the area. Free kick. Lamela blasts it into the wall. No good. But Spurs giving it a go. They need this. They really need this. What else is there but a top four finish for them? They've gotta turn it around.

They can't break Palace in the area. The chances are coming. Palace tiring. But defending doggedly. Spurs have got to keep pressing. YOU'VE GOTTA KEEP PRESSING Where's MoPo? Get your arse on the touchline for crissakes. They need to see you. 20 mins left. It's a do or die situation here.

The game appears to be petering out. MoPo is still sat entrenched in the dug-out. He's given up. More than half his regulars are absent but he's showing no faith by sitting there like a dying praying mantis. Hodgson stands on the touchline, hands in pockets, quietly counting down the minutes.

Sub Benteke holds it up nicely outside the box. He obliges Zaha who screws a low effort on goal. Keeper gets down well. Needed to. Could have been three. Five minutes left. This is a depressing week for our lilywhite brahs and sisters north of the river.
Levy must see the problem here. The nearly men, comfortably in the placings, reaching up for the trophy shelf but just can't reach it. Levy will say, as a manager you manage what you've got. But that's the problem. Without Son, Kane, Alli (and Eriksen, not even on the bench today?) there appears to be precious little to work with.

That's that, then. Pottchechino finally gets off his arse to give Roy Hodgson a brief hug as the referee blows up. That was a quite listless Tottenham performance, you have to say. Little in the way of cohesion, connectivity, inspiration or mettle. They've got top 4 to go for but to go out of two major cups in a matter of days will do their confidence no good at all. Palace were dogged and crafty, they allowed Spurs very little room to create anything of substance. You wonder now what MoPo can possibly be saying to his players.
Two-nothing, and Palace march on.

Well done Palace. I'd say the bookies were caught a beaut with this one
