One dog, 3 cats, and 2 hedgehogs My dog is a rescue. Half black lab half doberman. Her name is Juno. She's smart as a whip and loving and loyal without a fault. Two of the cats are brothers that look completely different with totally opposite personalities. And the hedgehogs are...well...hedgehogs When you say that about hedgehogs, what does that mean? How are they as pets? It's a topic of great interest in my household. As I understand it there are laws about where their legal to keep, and I doubt there are many hedgehog shelters so you'd have to buy from a store or breeder, and I really don't like that idea. They are pretty fun to look at though. They are mostly my son's thing. He got them from acquaintance who didn't want to care for them anymore. When anyone other than my son tries to interact with them all they want to do is curl up in a ball.

So when I bought my house a decade ago, I went to the shelter and got the next two dogs that were being put down. The cocker died last year at 16, the other boy, a poodle mix is 12. Got another rescue last April from a rescue that goes to kill shelters and rescues elderly dogs that are about to be put down. Got this little poodle mix who is 10. My girlfriend found the chihuahua in the middle of a busy street just waiting to die, he's the most spoiled dog in the world now and the yorkie I came home from lunch one day and saw this dead dog on the side of the road so I wanted to move her out of the street so no one would run over her and it turned out she was alive, took her to the vet, she had been malnourished and abused and you could't tell but was pregnant, now she's been with us for 3 years now too.
I have done tons of animal rescue since the 90s, back in 2008 a rescue got ahold of me and asked if I'd be interested in any cats as the Bakersfield shelter was putting down kittens as they came in as the just didnt have the room, so that's where my two cats came from, they're going to be 11 in a couple months.
