And he does have a point.......
“I think its great fun. I never could have made that film, because it requires this kind of total dreamlike disconnection from any sense of physics or reality. It exists in a somewhere between a Greek mythic and a fairy tale landscape. People just kind of zoom around underwater, because they propel themselves mentally, I guess, I don’t know. But it’s cool! You buy it on its own terms.”
I’ve spent thousands of hours underwater. I am very literal about my underwater, it needs to look like its real. And while I can enjoy that film, I don’t resonate with it because it doesn’t look real.
The master has spoken. The underwater scenes in Aquaman doesn't hold a candle to the ones in THE ABYSS, a movie that is 30 years old this year.

It feels like James Cameron disses on every movie that doesnt have his name on it.

The King of the World does make some good points that I agree with (and keep in mind I thought Aquaman was an alright movie).
I have no doubt what Cameron has up his sleeves for Avatar 2 is going to be mind-blowing (esp the underwater scenes)

Is Cameron being like this at the moment just in case the Alita might bomb at the box office, considering its large budget and competitive opening week?

Aquaman was not that great, in fact I thought it was boring. It had a flatness to it and lacked genuine excitement. Presenting visuals before us, without much substance behind them does not make a good movie. I am not a big fan of superhero films, but it appears that Marvel is blitzing DC in the memorable stakes. I'm sure Captain Marvel will set a new benchmark.

James Cameron is in George Lucas territory IMO. He should go to the peanut gallery (retirement) with Lucas.

I'm kinda in the same boat (hey-o). Things were so unreal I was never really invested in what was happening, which is a bad thing for a movie 2 and a half hours long. I know we're talking about a guy who talks to fish, but still. What happened to the semi-grounded world of MoS?

My biggest problem with that movie was the laughably awful dialogue throughout.
