I have been seeing multiple articles indicating that Millennials are leaving religion in droves, but they seem to have embraced astrology.
From sun sign “moods” to zodiac fashion à la Vetements, it’s no secret that astrology is having a moment among millennials. And nowhere does this modern rise of secular spirituality manifest as much as Instagram. Accounts like @astromemequeen and @costarastrology feed us with daily digestible chunks of astrology in the universal language that we all speak: memes. They show us, in jest, which type of fries we’re more inclined to according to our zodiac, or which method we’re more likely to use to shun a pesky ex-flame. But what’s presented to us here in only a few characters is a little more complex than that.

I know quite a few people who have no time for religion but believe in all sorts of spiritual views like astrology, reincarnation, soul mates etc

The movements of planet is connected to your date of birth and where those planets were in their path on the day you were born.

I suspect that most people interested astrology are interested because it is an art not a science. It serves as a "conversation starter" like a "coffee table book" or conversation "piece." Religion is also primarily an art, but it is far more systematic, which is it's great advantage as it turns out, kiddos.

I see atheists celebrating the fact that the "Nones" are the fastest growing group when it comes to which religion people are. Whist I can certainly believe atheists are growing in number, one should treat that fact with caution. There's plenty of wackadoodle stuff a person can believe in and still not be "religious". Spirituality (whatever the hell that word is supposed to mean), astrology, crystal power, ancient aliens, Atlantis, you name it. They may not be religions as such, but they're certainly religious in nature.

Is astrology science?Haha....So it is indeed many of them who believe astrology to be some sort of genuine science. I can assure you that it's not just the US people but also Indians who believe so. I remember way back in 2007 when I had a discussion on the issue with a software engineer who was also a very rational person on most other issues. But for whatever reasons I don't know he subscribed to a belief in astrology. He was in fact also a very good human being so that gave me all the more reasons to be surprised. His belief was that positions of planets at the moment of your birth dictate your behaviour. I asked him planets are not sentient beings and don't have a way to keep track of you so why do you think your behaviour is influenced by those planets. He kept insisting that those planets had certain kinds of gravitational pulls and through them, they have a special relationship with people. I said even if there were a special kind of gravitation pull, wouldn't they be nearly the same for all beings on the earth at any point of time? What has the date of birth got to do with all this? He just kept giving me unsatisfactory answers.

No participant need have mentioned about date of birth. Indian sample is different from the American sample. Scientific or sort of scientific both alludes to some basis regarding believing in something because of some rational beliefs. I am all ears if you have a case to make for astrology.

I believe I already mentioned it's more of a parlor game than a science and most people who bother (right choice of words) with it understand that. The survey does not prove me wrong because it is not specific as noted.

Okay. You are essentially saying that astrology is a sort of science. Cool. P a r l o r g a m e Yes, you do need help. The majority of survey respondents said astrology is "very scientific" or "sort of scientific." You can't equate their words with your minted word. Astrology is bullshit.

and that pretty much sums up why they are messed up as they don't have God as their foundation.
Those people believe in just about everything besides the truth.
like I have heard some say... if a person does not try to fill themselves with God, 'something else' will take that place.
