For me not a real biggie. I'd be out $20 to replace it then I'd have to call to get my minutes back once I bought a new one.

Not me but someone I was with.
Lost one in the Mall of America. Bought a new one immediately! Like the next day !. Someone at the mall found it, turned it into Lost and Found and they returned it. They had even researched whose phone it was without calling the owner first which seemed odd. BUT.... Had already upgraded to a smart phone.
me ? flip phone mostly used instead of a wristwatch and to call and locate the Smart-phone when we lose each other at the mall.

I own an old flip-phone, so it would be a big deal.

When I take the bus to work I'd be annoyed that I lost my ability to watch Netflix/Hulu. Wouldn't be life altering though.

Catman would just replace it. Maybe even get a fancier one just for laughs.

or put it this way... losing it for a while would not be much of a issue even though there will be occasions one will use it as I think just about everyone uses a phone once in a while, at the least, unless your one of those people almost completely secluded from the world. because I suspect even more old school people still use phones here and there at the very least.

It would be a medium annoyance because I'd have to take time out of my day to go buy another one. I only use my phone for phone calls, nothing else. Even though I don't look at my phone every 5 minutes, I still need to be reachable.

I don't own a cell phone. Never will. Here's a stat: In Chicago, there are about 60,000 cell phones lost/stolen every year.
Users have become zombies. No thanks. And to batoutaheck: I don't own a landline either.

I don't personally own a cell phone, never have. whats that like? do you not face pressure from your family/friends to get one? do you not find yourself in situations outside whee having a phone / internet handy would be very helpful?

i wouldnt really be that upset to lose the device, its an old piece of shit, but i am sure i would lose some data as a result of it, as i dont sync or back up my phone regurarly. but it wouldnt be a tragedy just annoyance.

I would be hard pressed to find another one that's so cheap, simple and primitive.

I would be hard pressed to find another one that's so cheap, simple and primitive. Sadly, my cheap, simple and primitive phone drowned a few weeks back, and I had to upgrade to the next generation, but I stayed with just talk and text, no internet, so the service will be the same price. I lost some valuable (to me) photos, mostly of my beloved pets; I was just moving towards finding a way to download the photos onto the computer or a flash drive. It is easier to text with the new phone, and it gets better reception than the old one, but I miss my little Star Trek communicator.

Not at all except I'm too stupid/lazy to properly export and save my contacts so that part would be a hassle.

And her opinion about computers was quite simple... She wanted one that you could talk to and tell what to do. I actually have a toy replica of the communicator from the original 1966 STAR TREK, complete with sound effects.
