India the best chasing team? What’s the highest total which they chased? 362, 356 and 351 . What’s the next highest? 331. So India has successfully chased a total of 350+ three times in total. It’s not something to bank on. And the form that Finch, Warner and Smith are in, that’s the score they will be hoping for. I don’t think the Australian bowling attack is better than the Indian batting, so I wouldn’t want Australia to bowl first. But the Australian bowling attack is strong enough to defend 350+ against India. The Pakistan team could do it too. Pakistan beat England by batting first just a fortnight ago. India chasing in the last 3 years - Played 42, Won 30. 71% stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/team/6.html?batting_fielding_first=2;class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=toss;spanmax1=17+Jun+2019;spanmin1=17+Jun+2016;spanval1=span;template=results;type=team;view=resultsIndia defending in the last 3 years - Played 28, Won 19. 68% stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/team/6.html?batting_fielding_first=1;class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=toss;spanmax1=17+Jun+2019;spanmin1=17+Jun+2016;spanval1=span;template=results;type=team;view=resultsThe only side with a better record chasing is England, and they have the big advantage of bowling first in superior, familiar conditions. And, over the last 3 years, England have been far and away the best overall side in ODI cricket all other things being equal. My point still stands. Don’t bat first thinking that India will struggle to chase. Bat first thinking that it is your best chance of winning. In England, know that the best bowling conditions are in the first half an hour. Unlike everywhere else in the world, Bat first, Bat big, let the scoreboard do the rest isn’t sound tactics in England.

Terrible bowling by the West Indies. They bounced out Pakistan, but Bangladesh was waiting for it and Windies didn’t adapt at all.

windies and lanka underperforming have ruined this world cup.

its between the kiwis and the bangladeshis for the fourth spot. i think the kiwis will get there. i hope there are some upsets though.

15 sixes for Morgan so far.
The ODI record is 16.

Morgan - not bad for a bloke with a bad back!
Morgan hasn't ruled out England calling Hales back into the fold in the wake of Roy's injury concerns. Means that James Vince quickly needs a big score or it's curtains...

He's now tied for the record with Sharma, de Villiers and Gayle.

17 sixes is insane. Rashid Khan got absolutely tonked. 110 off 9 overs. Second worse ODI figures of all time.

To be fair, Rashid didn’t actually bowl that poorly. It’s just that Root easily got off strike, and Morgan was picking him easily and seeing it like a football. When you know where they are going, Batting is a shit load easier against a hustling spinner like Rashid. It was also obvious that Morgan targeted him to unsettle him - to a large degree it worked. In cricketing terms, Rashid is still a kid (he is only 20), and he’s the lynchpin of this attack. Makes sense to try and go large off him......

I couldn't watch SA innings as I just got back home but it is amusing to see Amla score 50 runs with a strike rate in mid 60s. Irrespective of who wins it seems SA has almost given up. Or was it really that difficult to bat here?

Kane Williamson is fighting alone at the moment. I guess we can say that he is the greatest Kiwi batsman ever? Wasim Akram the legend ranks Martin Crowe as one of the best batsmen he ever bowled to but I think Kane may be more consistent than Crowe

It feels terrible to see South Africa in the state it is and all terrible things they have done in the field in this game brings pity. Their spirit is broken it seems.

It's a different game these days as you know, Williamson is high quality. We are in a great era of star batsmen and it looks like serious fast bowlers are back in vogue, great to see.

I thought Pakistan would have done better considering they’re playing at home.

I thought Pakistan would have done better considering they’re playing at home. ::sleep:: Why were they outnumbered by Indian fans at the India-Pakistan match then?
