Biggest game of the WC tonight. Australia wins, and that’s the semis virtually decided. I think Bangladesh are in with a big shout.

I thought Pakistan would have done better considering they’re playing at home. ::sleep:: Why were they outnumbered by Indian fans at the India-Pakistan match then? They certainly filled the stands in the match against Australia. If they thought that they could beat India, they would have been there in numbers.

Yes, they stayed away because they thought they might lose! Talk sense.

Australia 5/368 after 49 and the rain has come. Bangladesh don’t really want a washout, and they really don’t want a reduced target.

England Struggling against Sri Lanka!
They may struggle to get a semi final spot. They’ve still got to face both Australia and India in the group matches.
It would be ok to meet them in the finals. If Australia finish 1st and England 4th then that’s not bad at all. Or Aus v Bangladesh LOL.
I guess if India are unbeaten then they’ll finish first. But if another India match is rained out it will be interesting.
A New Zealand/ India final is interesting as well. Their last WC match against each other (that went ahead) must have been many years ago. India are still favourites but still, it will be interesting.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if the rest of India’s matches were washed out and they don’t make the finals? Then Australia will walk to their sixth WC title! 👏🏻

Anyone else think Malinga is a chucker? I hate his bowling action.

Hope they don't crumble. They still have to play Australia, NZ and India. Could easily see them taking nil points from those matches.

I put $100 on India at the beginning and I’ll make $400 if they win the WC! I was thinking of putting $300 on them but got cold feet. In between I was thinking of putting $150 on both India and Windies, Windies were 12/1 odds and that would have been good. But I’m glad I didn’t. The Windies are still a good team though. Mind you Sri Lanka aren’t easybeats so take heart from that.

It's becoming pretty clear that England just aren't mentally up to the job. They were routinely belting everyone they played, home or away, for the past 3-4 years until 3-4 months ago. What changed? The World Cup went from being some future goal in the distance to a tangible real thing that was really coming and in their own back yard.
Whether they make the semis or not is irrelevant. They are the best team in the world, have been for 4 years, and they can't win due to their own mental weakness. They've swapped with Saffers for this edition.

Well, Hosko has been saying for a while now that England has a collapse in them, didn’t think Sri Lanka would be the one to do it. Some very ordinary batting again though on a slightly less than perfect pitch but by no means a minefield. England’s entire setup is predicated on power hitting on small grounds on flat pitches. When they encounter that, they are unbeatable. Anything else they get unstable. I think in the preceding 2-3 years it seems that’s all England have encountered. Roads on postage stamps. They aren’t locks to make even the semis now, and with Australia. India and New Zealand to play, I reckon all 3 would love to knock out the hosts, try and jag 1st and play either Bangladesh or Sri Lanka in a semi final. The really curious game all of a sudden becomes Australia v South Africa. The Aussies have a chance at 1st if they can knock off India and NZ - whereas before they might have looked at resting players for that one....

Anyone else think Malinga is a chucker? I hate his bowling action. Nope. Doesn’t bend his elbow. In fact, out of all the quick bowlers in the world, he actually looks the LEAST like a chucker.

England Evidency
1: They haven't learned from the champions trophy defeat to Pak two years ago...
2: Moronic shot selection, mentally fragile on that sort of pitch
3: They have to bat first!
4: Gives Oz a chance to do what they do best, stick the knife in the Poms
5: Baylis Out!
A bit early to be completely writing them off though, but I feel more safe financially that I backed The Kiwis each way!
