once, a long time ago, I had a boss that lied about me to others so i presume that there was some dislike or a problem.
luckily it didnt repeat since then (or i was just lucky not to have found out)
my last three bosses i loved and legit cried when they were leaving or i was leaving because they were such great people and we has such a pleasant relationship.

I think there's something that happens when you become a boss... you kind've have to become an asshole. Suddenly you find yourself having to put people in their place and give orders, etc. etc. So you come across as an asshole anyway. I get that.
But then there are some people that take it too far and actually enjoy having power over people. Enjoying having power over people has never been a thing for me so I don't understand it. Personally I think you hire good people who are good at the job and then LET them do their job. The few times I've been put in a supervisory position over others I haven't really messed with them past expecting them to do what they're supposed to do.

Can't stand that and it is pitting others against you, just so they can make if more difficult for you. Telling lies and untruths and making up whatever story they want, just to big note themselves. Evil narcissists who get off on the power trip, because that is all they have and want to hold onto control. Have worked with many bosses like that. the most difficult part of it for me was that the lie they told others were that i was drunk at work/had a drinking problem. which was nonsense. not only because i wouldnt go to work drunk but because I have never drank ANY alcohol in my life. work or elsewhere. i was so upset when i heard that rumor (various people came up to me offering help staying sober. imagine that. horrific) that i went to my doctor and asked if there are any tests that can be done to prove not only i have not been drunk recently, but that i have never drank any alcohol. she said there were not. so what do you do after that, other than sue for libel? nothing. the more you try to tell people you dont drink (or do drugs etc) and have never done so, the more weird it would look. i still think that rumor will reappear sometimes in my life. oh well. but overall i feel very lucky about that having had some of the best bosses i could imagine.

Not these days. The boss who seemed to dislike me the most (well, openly anyway) was back when I was working at a grocery store in high school. That wasn't on me, however, as she automatically disliked EVERYBODY under the age of 18.
