On June 30, 1994, six year old Crystal Ann Tymich was picking peaches from a neighbor's tree and playing with her three brothers in the 6000 block of Brynhurst Avenue in South Central Los Angeles, which was where her house was. It was sometime around 2-5PM.
Her brothers later went inside the house. When their grandmother came out to call for her shortly afterwards, she had disappeared and vanished without a single trace.
Neighbors had claimed that they saw her wandering around earlier in the day and made sure she didn't go astray, however they didn't see anything unusual in the neighborhood.
Crystal was last seen wearing a pink t-shirt, flowered shorts and white tennis shoes with a "Little Mermaid" design.
In 2005 the case was re-opened when someone reported to the FBI stating that there had been a suspicious burial of an animal by a nearby house around the same time Tymich went missing. The FBI and Los Angeles County Police raided the home (with no clues or evidence) and dug up the site, where they found a pile of bones. They turned out to be animal and fish bones. The case unfortunately went cold after that, although the family has still not given up hope and believe she is still alive today. They continue to live in the same house today in Los Angeles.
Possible Theories:
Someone had kidnapped her whilst passing by the neighborhood, which would've been very swift and well-done.
She ran away. Although this isn't confirmed as I haven't seen many sources explain this, she was talking about running away. It's possible as soon as her brothers were out of sight, she took off. However, there simply hasn't been footprints or other evidence known for it. Besides, how far could her six year old self have gotten before something went wrong?
I've also heard that her parents were divorced (but this is not confirmed) and lived in seperate houses. It's possible one of the parents kidnapped her as an act of retaliation or jealously.
The neighbors kidnapped her.
The vague amounts of information and evidence towards this case can't seem to trace a whole ton. I may have missed a few points about this case and I'd like to hear what others think!
