Have any of you done this or have considered doing it? How do you feel about couples that elope?

If I was ever to get married, this is exactly how I would want to do it. Hopefully he would want to elope too.

Great decision if you’re broke, don’t like stress and/or can deal with the family pressure to have a wedding.

Probably. I would not want a wedding as I don’t want the attention. I don’t even like birthday parties arranged for me.

My late husband and I considered eloping, and even though our ceremony was very modest and low-key, we wished that we had just gone to the very special place that we loved, and had a local official say the words and sign the document. It would have saved a lot of family conflict, as we were both atheists, and really didn't need a theist ritual.
People who opt for that are probably just trying to be efficient, or perhaps very private. Whatever the reason, it's a viable option.
