I live on a street with about 2 miles of apartments and condos. When I go for a walk at night, everybody's curtains, shades and blinds are closed. I also drive for Uber and Lyft at night. Nobody's window treatments are open.
I live in Germany, but some people in my street don't even have curtains. It's a bit bizzarre, if you walk by their house in the dark you can see everything that's going on. You can see them cooking in the kitchen or sitting in front of the TV. It's almost like they are putting themselves on display trying to show everyone what a nice home they have.
We have the opposite problem where I live. My friends and I are always commenting on how many people around here not only never open their windows or curtains at night. But never during the day either. We always say, "That is not good for one's health. Humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Never opening the windows will render the air stuffy and unhealthy."
