...in fine style in what was a memorable final day, just edging out the veteran Jim Furyk who made mincemeat of the famed 18th hole, leaving his second shot 18 inches from the hole for a tap-in birdie. McIlroy himself had earlier gotten his nose in front by dismissing the par 5 16th (520 yards and guarded on the right by water) with a 346-yard drive into the rough and then a 174-yard 7 iron to 20 ft. He just missed his putt for an eagle. Odd thing was that none of the meeja made mention of the fact that yesterday was St Patrick's Day, presumably because Rory hails from County Down which is in the North and they don't have an Irish knees-up like they do in the South.

You donβt have to work it right to left off the tee, you can just power fade a bomb. Still good shots.

At the par 4 fourth, where almost everyone was trying to drive the green, he had to lay up because he doesn't have the length of the young bucks and he probably had to take a deep breath on the 18th tee, knowing he would have to hit his Sunday best to stay on dry land which he did...just.
