Before they mummified someone, they removed the heart first, then the genitalia. They would remove the brain through the nose, then throw it in the trash. They would then replace the heart and genitals back into the body. That's the regard they had for the brain.
In the fetus, the first thing that develops (without the brain) is the heart. Scientists (no surprise) can't figure out how the heart beats without the brain at that stage.
See, twits, the brain is but a receiver and for the mechanics of bodily movement. It is not where consciousness lies.

No, that won't do!
When you say 'they', which actual culture are you talking about?
Every culture that has practiced mummification had different methods.
There is no one ancient world, so which mummification process do you mean?

There is no one ancient world, so which mummification process do you mean? I'm guessing you actually know jack shit about real mummification that has been practiced by various cultures through time. And, I'll warn you, if you say Egyptian, I will ask which period and region? Funerary practices varied in Ancient Egypt in time and space 👍

The brain doesn't control the heart beat. That's probably why it can start beating before the brain develops.

Isn't that what I said in the OP?

Then why didn't you say so 🤔 You said 'The ancient world', which is all encompassing... So which culture/s in which time periods are you actually talking about? You need to be more specific, so I can offer explanations on why they did what they did. You don't sound actually knowledgeable on the subject, sorry no offence intended.

Otherwise I'm going to have to conclude you don't have a scooby what yer prattling on about.

This is so appaulingly dumb I'm not even sure I wanna bother adressing it. A ten year old could refute your shitty argument. No scratch that, a five year old that gets their biology lessons from one of those toys that spins an arm and says "the cow says moo!" could refute what you just said.

Am I wrong that the heart develops before the brain does in the fetus? Foetal development has nothing to do with what we are debating, which is 'What the ancient world thought of the brain'... Who is this 'ancient world'? you just don't have an answer to your nonsense blanket statement 🤷 You can't now pretend you were actually making a biological point about foetal development... You were trying to pretend you had genuine knowledge of funerary practices in your pretend homogenous ancient world... It's bollocks.

I don't care if I made a blanket statement about the ancient world as long as it's understood that there were INDEED cultures who did exactly what I said, and you can't refute that. There WERE cultures who disposed of the brain.

No. You said scientists can't figure out how the heart beats without a brain at that stage. This site tells how that happens.
The fetal nervous system — i.e., your baby-to-be's brain and spinal cord — is one of the very first systems to develop. In fact, it's making big strides before you even know you're pregnant.Once the neural tube closes, at around week 6 or week 7 of pregnancy, it curves and bulges into three sections, commonly known as the forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. Just to the rear of the hindbrain sits the part that will soon turn into your baby's spinal cord. Soon, these areas bubble into those five different regions of the brain that we're most familiar with: the cerebrum, cerebellum, brain stem, pituitary gland and the hypothalamus. Brain stem: The engine driving many of your baby's most vital functions, including heart rate, breathing and blood pressure.
It's really not as big a mystery as you think it is.

The first sentence confirms what I said: the baby's brain and spinal cord 'is ONE of the very first systems'. Not THE first system. The FIRST thing to develop is the heart without the fully developed brain that's inside the skull.
And we all know that scientists exclude whatever doesn't fit their theories, so who knows if that's even the correct sequence.
Regardless, none of that refutes what I said about ancient cultures disposing of the brain. There were cultures that did that, and you can't refute it.
