AL EAST Red Sox Orioles Blue Jays Yankees Rays NL EAST Nationals Mets Phillies (sleeper) Marlins Braves Pitchers and catchers have reported! I like your NL East Standings - it's pretty much the direction I was going to go. So to change things up a bit, I'll go Mets Nats Phils Fish Bravos Very intrigued by all the young prospects on the Phils this year. They've got a lot of young arms positioning themselves for a spot in the rotation. I'm thinking to go along with Hellickson and Buchholz we'll see Eickhoff, Nola and Velasquez in the starting rotation. Asher, Thompson and Eflin can be used as insurance in case of injury or maybe even moved to the pen. Or hoping come trade deadline - Hellickson and Buchholz are swapped to open up a spot in the rotation for these young guys. Can't wait for Opening Day!

Would love to see the Cards down there. Just like the Giants in the NL West - I've grown a little tired of them. Curious to see if the Pirates window with their nice little run over the last few years is closing or if they can compete for a WC this year. Anything but the Cards and Giants again. Coming from a Phils fan - I'll even take an NL East rival in the WS over the Cards or Giants.

Being an optimist, I'll go:
NL East Marlins (WS winner, of course) Mets (wild card) Phillies Braves Nationals (worst MLB record for 2017)

I respect the cards, but as another pposter pointed out, ppl are tired of seeing them and the giants in the LCS. last year was the first time in years the NLCS didnt have either team.

AL East - Boston Red Sox - Baltimore Orioles - Toronto Blue Jays - New York Yankees - Tampa Bay Rays
Toughest one is a toss up between the Os and Jays. The Jays look like they are just happy being in the post-season with no serious intention to contend. Lost Encarnacion, Donaldson is injured, Tulo has also not been the player they had hoped since acquiring him from the Rockies, Morales will either be a hit or a miss, and just a lot of 30 somethings in that lineup which is a worry. 2B Devon Travis looks like he could be a great hitting prospect so we'll see.
The only worry for the Os is the delayed start of Chris Tillman, but like the Jays have had a relatively quiet off-season too. Think their roster is a bit better that's all.
Yankees probably have enough experience to scrape through .500 even if its 81-81 and while I expect the Rays to improve I dont think itll be enough to pull them off last place.

As a Marlins fan, I would love for us to make the playoffs this year and think we have a shot at the Wild Card. Our hitting should be strong as is our relief pitching, but our starting pitching went from thin to a disaster without Jose. I hope we can get enough pitching to have a good team.
Anyway here are my predictions for every division.
NL East
Nationals Mets Marlins Braves Phillies
NL Central
Cubs Cardinals Brewers Pirates Reds
NL West
Dodgers Rockies Giants D-Backs Padres
AL East
Red Sox Blue Jays Orioles Rays Yankees
AL Central
Indians Royals Tigers White Sox Twins
AL West
Astros Mariners Rangers Angels A's

Rockies? They were underrated last year. Their offense was really good (yeah, even on the road)...they trashed the yankees and i think the mets too. It's hard for them to find good groundball pitchers that won't get hit hard in Colorado though.

Yeah, I'm going with the Rockies to finish second, just look at their lineup : Arenado, CarGo, Blackmon, LeMahieu, Story, Desmond. That's a terrific lineup, and their starting pitching should be improved this year even though Coors is a difficult place to pitch. If they can get decent relief pitching they will be very good, however their pen is weak.

Any particular reason why you favour the Dodgers over the Giants?
I like that Giants lineup more

Dodgers are the most complete team in the NL West by far. Solid all around.
You seriously like the Giants lineup more than the Dodgers? The Giants don't have one major slugger, and aside from Posey and maybe Pence who do they have that could be considered a star player? Dodgers have a very complete lineup all around.
NL West should be one hell of a division this year. With the exception of the Padres, all the teams are good and should be interesting to watch. I can see the Rockies and even the D-Backs surprising some people.

I don't know about the diamondbacks, haven't heard any offseason news from them. they were pretty weak last year and have been in recent memory.

The D-Backs were weaker last year because their 2 good outfielders, Peralta and Pollock, got hurt and missed most of the year. They should both be healthy and starting all year this year, so they will be much improved. They have some solid hitters, and their pitching should improve, I think they will be better than people expect.
