I'm sick of it. It's always the same damn thing. A 6'7" cowboy with a booming voice goes around and bosses around a bunch of 5'7" hicks with stereotypical southern accents.
It's like Judge Judy meets Steve Wilkos.

Take his TV away. I hope you've already taken away his car keys.

Could be worse ...he could have taped all of the Lawrence Welk shows and watch them 24/7.
My parent enjoyed him and his shows and watched them faithfully every week but personally .. nope !

With my old man, it was THE F.B.I.. I was glad he found something that entertained him. I had my own room and stereo system. When he started to lose his hearing, I moved out.

It could be worse still. He could be watching Liberace! LOL! My mom and all her friends enjoyed watching Liberace. He played music that they enjoyed and had good guests on his show. "In 1952, The Liberace Show (1952), a syndicated television program, turned Liberace into a musical symbol. It began as a summertime replacement for The Dinah Shore Show (1951), but after two years, the show was one of the most popular on TV. It was carried by 217 American stations and could be seen in 20 foreign countries. Sold-out live appearances at Madison Square Garden enhanced the pianist's popularity even more." There's more to LIBERACE than sequinsQuotes : [to a critic who negatively reviewed one of his performances] Your review hurt me! I cried all the way to the bank! [commenting on one of more famous lines] You know that bank I cried all the way to? I bought it!

MOM was the huge fan … Posted some OT information about him because his being remembered only as a joke and a punchline and his contributions to the entertainment industry being totally forgotten is sad. Did you look at the link ? Why turn this into a personal mockery thing ?

It was a strange, almost eerie phenomenon how people did not see that Liberace was gay. It is hard to account for. But people like to live in blind ignorance, and when there is a large group of people, it only reinforces the denial. Liberace's fans were mostly middle-age to older women. He was a charming man and the ladies ate it up. My grandparents watched Lawrence Welk every week. I kind of liked him and his bubble machine.

I sympathise with your dad. I watch my favourite TV shows over and over again and never get tired of them. If you don't like Gunsmoke, why don't you go outside and play?
