I hope this passes Avatar, but I see almost no way it does. $2.5 billion is its absolute ceiling, and even then that’s a stretch in my opinion.
If this can’t do it, I really don’t know what can. Avatar might reign supreme for a very long time.

No, they said its mathematically possible. Current conservative tracking is 200m-250m OW. But given the record breaking presales its likely to be in 275m range at least. The runtime is over 3 hours making 300m ow difficult, also Sunday will be a 90 minute GOT episode. Also 1 billion domestic would require over 3X multiple , a hard feat for a MCU film in Summer.

What a time we live in where a HBO show is a solid competitor against a $250M blockbuster.

God I dont want to watch it in a theater full of fanboys. will go end of May. that was my concern too but picked one of those theaters with recliners and table service where its usually a bit more expensive and also much less people fit in so i think that will help. going on friday, cannot wait .

AMC Theatres on Monday announced that the superhero pic has racked up more advance ticket sales than any title in history. The mega-circuit is also adding a record number of round-the-clock showings in order to accommodate demand.
From Disney and Marvel Studios, Avengers: Endgame should have no trouble scoring the biggest opening of all time at the global box office with $850 million to $900 million (some think it could even be more). In North America, it's likewise expected to unseat Avengers: Infinity War and post a record debut of $270 million-plus, with some betting on $300 million.
Endgame begins rolling out Wednesday in select territories, including China. It will touch down in the U.S. on Thursday night.
So far, 29 AMC locations will be open around the clock Thursday through Friday, while an additional 18 theaters are scheduled to be open around the clock Thursday through Saturday, or Friday through Sunday. Finally, another 17 AMC sites are scheduled to be open around the clock Thursday night through Sunday.
