Benny has poked his head up out of the hidey-hole he has been in for the last five or six years to pronounce his judgment about clergy child abuse. In an 11-page letter, he disagrees with Pope Francis by blaming the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s and subsequent laxity of Catholic teaching for all the priests raping children. Benedict claims that “"Part of the physiognomy of the Revolution of '68, was that pedophilia was then also diagnosed as allowed and appropriate" – a claim manifestly false. The Nazi tainted ex-Pope goes on to say that “cliques of homosexuals” began signing up for seminary during that time along with a loss of religious belief in the general public. The only solution to the crisis, he says, is a return to enforcing the strict traditional Catholic doctrine of the past. Victims of the abuse are only mentioned in passing. As expected, LGBTQ advocates have already roundly ripped the 92-year-old post-pontiff’s non-Ex Cathedra missive. CNN coverage

What a truly evil Catholic apologist who did stuff all in his term as Pope except facilitate sexual abuse and coverup the results.
To blame everyone else except the perpetrators and those who hid their crimes, is now beyond redemption.
He should be tried as an 'accessory after the fact' in all those criminal coverups he oversaw.

I don't think many people will take much notice of him.
He wasn't a very popular Pope. Was glad when he retired.

So then how does Bennie account for the rampant abuse that was going on before the "laxity" of the 1960s? www.attorneygeneral.gov/report/www.indystar.com/story/news/2018/10/12/indianapolis-archidocese-list-priests-catholic-church-sex-abuse-what-we-know/1607215002/

Benedict apparently thinks enough time has passed that everyone has forgotten why he was forced to abdicate the papacy. (And certainly there's no trace of this mentioned in his current Wikipedia bio.)
The report was the result of a Vatican investigation to try to stop whoever was leaking nasty info about all sorts of Vatican misbehavior to the press (the so-called Vatileaks scandal). Benedict's personal butler was fingered and convicted (later pardoned), but he was just guilty of exposing the secrets. Benedict himself ultimately was the one presiding over all the scandalous activity of his officials. (And who knows what dirt they may have had on Benedict that was never revealed to the public?)

You pathetic excuse for a Catholic apologist. How dare you excuse endemic almost ritual abuse and paedophilia that has gone on in the Catholic Church for centuries, by denigrating the victims and casting doubt on the word of people who may have suffered for years over many years and are just now 'coming out' with their historic stories. Christian? You are a blight on humanity.
