The kiddie personality of the adult Billy Batson is not at all the same as the kiddie personality of the teenage Billy Batson.
In fact, the adult is much more gung ho and far less mature, and the kid is actually the opposite -- pessimistic, detached, and disinterested, but very mature for his age and much more mature than his adult self.
Other than that, I totally enjoyed the movie -- a perfect combination and balance of comedy, drama, and action.

I agree. This is a flaw of that you will find in just about every kid-stuck-in-an-adult-body movie. The worst case of this is in the movie Vice Versa with Judge Reinhold and Fred Savage. At this point I'd almost be surprised if I DIDN'T see it in a movie like that. Overall it didn't ruin my enjoyment of Shazam.

I just realized this and I agree. A lot of people didn’t catch that. Good one.

But I think in Big, which Shazam! is somewhat modeled on and which everyone compares it to, the personality is consistent between the kid and Tom Hanks, isn't it?
But even if that's the case, it would still be an exception, like you're saying.

I've been wondering about this as well...after I saw it. Shazam! is definitely a little more fun than the kid is. I liked Billy but their personalities were very different. And it got me to wondering...is Shazam supposed to be Billy grown up or is he a completely different person?

I think when he’s an adult he decides to act all kiddy. A kid can usually get excited when becoming an adult.

Well, I'm kind of a low-key guy, but put me in the body of a superhero and I'd start acting way more goofy and immature as well.

Well, I'm kind of a low-key guy, but put me in the body of a superhero and I'd start acting way more goofy and immature as well. Exactly. I noticed this about the movie as too. After it was over, I was telling the girl I saw it with that Shazam was way more childish and immature than Billy and that didn't make sense. But then I thought more about it and realized it was very likely that any kid, no matter how serious, cynical, and reserved, would immediately grow more excited and giddy upon receiving powers and becoming an adult instantaneously. Either way, I loved the movie. It was extremely fun and put me in a great mood.
