I have the old bluray of Dumbo. I guess it's still on there. Guess you have to get a copy of Song of the South from Europe to watch it "legally."

I understand they want to distances themselves from bad publicity as much as possible, but where do they draw the line? Is it only a matter of time before they start catering to angry feminists types over movies like "Sleeping Beauty" and "Snow White" for having damsels in distress? Or are they already doing that?

Why are cons so desperate to protect the “free speech” of racists? For most people, racists rights aren’t something they think about too much

Sleeping Beauty will #Metoo Prince Charming for sleep assault.

I don't understand what's so racist about Song of the South. It was a depiction of an era in history. If they were presenting the same themes set in modern times, there would be a problem. I think it's more offensive to act like it never happened. I suppose we're also going to pretend songs like "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" never existed because they were written by blacks in a dark time in history?

Was anybody expecting Song of the South to be available for viewing?

Was anybody expecting Song of the South to be available for viewing? I wasn't, but that does go back to my "Where do you draw the line?" argument. Is "The Aristocats" available? That has this scene:

I told you so. Disney management is modeled on the Soviet. They erase history. And they won't stop there. Eventually Sleeping Beauty will have to be edited because Aurora doesn't fight with a sword. Disney management is anti-art.
George Orwell — 'The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.'

That is Lady and the Tramp, not The Aristocats.

Well, Disney did censor a caricatured black centaur character named Sunflower from the "Pastoral Symphony" segment in Fantasia. However, I'm not in favor of censoring the crows from Dumbo because the crows helped Dumbo to fly. That's a crucial plot element. I don't think anyone realistically believed they would put Song of the South on Disney+.

How the ever loving fuck are they gonna edit DUMBO?! The crows set the climax in motion! Also, without the scene, isn't movie under the minimum running time required to be considered a feature film? I don't understand what's so racist about Song of the South. It showed a slavery plantation as an idyllic place.

It’s Disney’s property. They OWN it. They can do whatever the hell they want to it.
That’s Capitalism.

SOTS has never been released in full on VHS or DVD in the USA, so it's exclusion is not really news.

Yeah, and the black actor won an Oscar for SOTS and now Dizzy wants us to be ashamed of that?
