There are various scenarios that come to my mind. One is that wights have somehow broken through the main defense and entered godswood. Because normal fire is ineffective on white walkers. And for that reason Theon is trying to get approaching wights. Or it could be that Theon's arrow is both burning and also dragon-glass tipped. He can get a walker/ NK if his arrow is dragon glass tipped.

My guess would be wights, as I understood it Bran is going to have minimal defenders in the Godswood, so Theon is likely to have his hands full and you'd think the Night King would send his pawns in first, he should have enough of them.

I wonder if many wights will explode each time a Walker gets killed. I do be cheering for Brienne, Theon, Jaime, Grey Worm, and Jorah to get one each. I fully trust in Sapochnik to deliver an epic battle.
Yeah, I think the wights would break in (at least a few) and iron men would be able to stop a few at cost of their lives. Perhaps Theon dies.

Did he do "Blackwater" or "The Watchers on the Wall?" Those were the two best battle episodes on the show in my opinion.

The Winds of Winter (2016) (This was one of the saving points of season 6) - Battle of the Bastards (2016) (The battle was filmed well even if the battle was mismanaged by the main characters) - Hardhome (2015) (This was thrilling in my view. One of my top 3 and visually stunning.) - The Gift (2015)

Those were all good episodes and I agree in a lot of respects the battle sequences looked good, but even separating out character idiocies each had elements that made my teeth ache. I recall reading they wanted to make the Battle of Winterfell look like Cannae, with the piles of bodies etc, but I guess they forgot that Jon and Ramsey controlled less than a tenth of the forces that were at that battle. My complaint against "Hardhome" was more the wights and my suspension of disbelief failing every time one dropped due to being hit by a regular arrow--why would that be? At least they'll have obsidian arrowheads for this one.
