Was rewatching Reservoir Dogs last night for the first time in a while and there's a lot of things about how the characters die that seem a bit odd to me:
- How did Joe know Mr Blue and Mr Brown were dead? None of the other characters seemed to know anything about Mr Blue and while they knew Mr Brown was dead, none of them had a chance to tell Joe. While it's possible he heard a news bulletin, it seems unlikely that they would have made clear who had been killed. The only thing I can think of is that the news announced two of the robbers were dead and when Joe entered the warehouse and did a quick count of who was there, he worked out that the two must have been Brown and Blue.
- Mr Brown's death is weird. He goes from fairly cogent to dead in about 30 seconds. I don't have enough medical knowledge to say for sure that's not possible but it seems to me there may have been a reason why Tarantino chose to shoot it this way. I wondered in this viewing did Mr Orange either help him on his way (unlikely as he'd risk blowing his cover) or lie to Mr White and say Brown was dead when he was just passed out (so as to have one less criminal around him). At this stage Mr Orange is unwounded and might have been hoping to give the others the slip. Maybe one could theorise he was trying to protect Mr Brown, knowing he'd be arrested or shot if he returned to the warehouse with them though this would be pure conjecture as we never saw them being close or anything.
- Nice Guy Eddie's death is also weird. It looks at first like Mr White shot him but the angle of the gun looks like he should have missed him completely, let alone kill him in one shot. It also seems unlikely he would have been able to shoot Eddie before Eddie shot him. Did Mr Orange shoot Eddie? But then he emptied his clip killing Mr Blond - I suppose he could have reloaded at some stage.
