I looked at that tweet on Twitter just now, and wow it didn't take long for people to bring politics into it and the amount of virtue signaling on the comments is unbelievable.

To be fair, my understanding is that Ford only agreed to be in TFA if they killed Han Solo.

But I think the emphasis needs to be kept on the new characters and not the old ones. The old ones already had their films. Yeah, it would have been nice to see those characters together again, but we've already had that. These new films are supposed to be aobut the new generation of characters.

That would make sense if the new characters had anything to offer. After 2 movies nobody gives a damn about Disney's new SW characters.

See to me though that's kind of dumb because to me movies are all about the characters the characters is what makes it good. Without them there is no movie, so who cares? if you're going to make a movie with new characters then don't include the old ones at all you can't have it both ways, It's like Star wars wants to have its cake and eat it too.

These new films are supposed to be aobut the new generation of characters. they could have handled the transition better, as the old cast were the main leads in the TFA and handoff the roles in later films. Films might have still sucked through.

It's nice to see him coming out against it and not acting like a paid shill as most actors would do.
Tell that to J.J. "I have no original ideas" Abrams. He was the one who decided that episode VII needed to be a rehash of episode IV.

Imagine if the prequels came out first and then the OT, and you had Ewan McGregor bitching because Obi-Wan and Yoda are supporting characters and the focus is on Luke and Leia.

This is actually an interesting scenario as I imagine the prequels would have been much different movies. Mark Hamill might have been cast as Obi Wan if Episode 1 was filmed in '77.
