Bandit Motion Pictures have been behind some recent movies from two of the horror business' brightest young talents. Scott Schirmer is serious by his own admission, a self-confessed churchaholic who grieves for the state of cinema and seeks salvation through the purity of his wholesome and nutritious work. His partner Brian K. Williams on the other hand just can't help himself.
The two men work separately and together in Indiana and make great use of state locations. One key associate they can call upon via skype / webex is filmmaker Dustin Mills who resides in nearby Ohio. Mills is a special effects creator who makes visual effects with computers.
Scott Schirmer and Brian Williams are friends and associates of independent filmmaker James Bickert who shoots pictures in Georgia. One of Bickert's operations falls under the production banner Big World Pictures. Bickert makes films that look like professional studio jobs but are actually small independents. He finds some extraordinary locations and devises creative ways to film in and around them. Stock company players who are loyal to Bickert have also worked on Schirmer and Williams' productions. In Atlanta, he's known as the holy hell biker.

Do you enjoy any of their movies?
Thanks.

I like Brian Williams' monster movie 'Space Babes From Outer Space' (2017). I like the costumes and production design. I'd recommend it to fans of 'Space Girls From Beyond Infinity' (1987), 'Bad Girls From Mars' (1990), 'Test Tube Teens From The Year 2000' (1994) and 'Vampire Vixens From Venus' (1995).

The only film I've seen from Scott Schirmer is the backwoods horror 'Plank Face' (2016). It's about a feral clan. Pretty fearless filmmaking in the face of harsh conditions, the cast negotiating some difficult terrain. Schirmer was Brian Williams' cinematographer for 'Space Babes From Outer Space', which was shot predominantly in Bloomington.

I hope somebody will release Scott Schirmer's movie 'Harvest Lake' (2016) to dvd as I'd like to see it. Heard and read a lot of positive feedback on it from the horror community. Also keen to see his latest picture, 'The Bad Man' (2018), so that's another I'm hoping will come to dvd.

James Bickert's actually been around a long time. He made several films in the 1990s and perhaps his most famous early work is 'Dumpster Baby' (2000), but I've not seen any of these films. I first heard about Bickert through the genre mish-mash 'Dear God No!' (2011) which has really grown on me over time. The follow-up is 'Frankenstein Created Bikers' (2016). These films combine elements of various science-fiction, fantasy and horror subgenres but are connected by an embrace of biker culture.

I've seen James Bickert's latest picture, the feminist W.I.P. flick 'Amazon Hot Box' (2018). It's set in a large, isolated location, a bit like a prison fort, which plays to Bickert's strengths as an open road movie maker. It's another film I enjoy the more I see it. I learnt some interesting things listening to Tristan Risk discuss artistic choices on the dvd commentary track (she's a fire-eater and cabaret artist).

I talked to Tristan Risk around 2005--seemed like a Dita Von Teese type. Looks like she steadily made a name for herself on the indie horror circuit.

Dita Von Teese is from Michigan. She used to date Marilyn Manson who's from Ohio.

I guess that is that your way of telling me I am off topic.
What I find interesting is how many of these regional voices are not as well known as say Charles Pierce. I guess because when he was doing regional horror it was so rare, or he was lucky to be in a particular distribution network at the right time.

No, not at all. I'm always happiest when people feel free to post whatever they wish to post (within imdb2 guidelines). Why did you meet up with Tristan Risk in 2005?

I was doing recruitment duties for a video project. I didn't meet her in person but I did meet a female wrestler who specialized in scissor-lock attacks and had the most steel-ball biceps you could imagine. Very nice though.
Come to think of it, I did meet/correspond with some regional filmmakers at the same time..One guy did a film of the Carmilla story (and learned the hard way about signing over all creative control to the Asylum-they changed the name of the film and everyone blamed him for the false advertising!).

She's very highly thought of in horror circles. A strong-willed, multi-talented feminist who asserts herself well. If you see 'Amazon Hot Box' on dvd, you should give her commentary track a listen.

She did stand out (maybe the bondage photos she sent in her resume helped).
