Don't expect it to 'cure' anything.
Don't expect anything.
Make sure you plan out what you want to do during your trip (roughly).
Pick a nice day.
Get rid of electronics and distractions.
Find interesting objects to look at.
Be near nature if you can.
Time a sunrise or sunset into it if you can.
Select nice ambient music to have on hand.
Softened lighting if you're indoors.
Avoid crowds of people and chaotic environments in general.
Having someone you trust who is experienced around is a good idea if you're new.

rachelcarson1953 , a lot of those prescriptions are placebos or don't work. All they do is help pay the doctor's mortgage. They are in the pocket of big pharma. DMT should also be taken under the supervision of someone experienced. Here's a video about it and depression: If yous seriously think drugs like Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil are "placebos" then go ahead and add that to the long list of terms you don't actually know the meaning of but spruriously throw around anyways. I didn't say they all were, but those that aren't come with side-effects and are not cures.

The point is, they are not cures if you have to be taking them for life and have to suffer side-effects. Another fact is that the pharma industry pushes drugs for anything and everything they can. Just like there's an 'app for that', they have a 'pill for that'. They'll even get parents to drug up their children if they get a little too active to handle.
Look at the commercials on TV for drugs, then the long list of side-effects that take most of the commercial time.
"This pill isn't working? Then take this pill in combination with THAT pill...and here are more side-effects."
It's ridiculous.
Big pharma are billions-per-month industry of drug pushers.

So you don't know what you're talking about.
"I've heard some of them work like a placebo, or are no better than one." Heard from where? Alex Jones?
"The point is, they are not cures if you have to be taking them for life and have to suffer side-effects."
No one said they're "cures", unfortunately certain ailments (depression, anxiety attacks, HIV) currently don't have cures, so we use prescription drugs to treat the symptoms as the next best thing. Yes many prescription drugs and treatments have side effects, but that's one of those cases where the rewards outweigh the risks. If prescriptions for HIV gave someone, I dunno, occasional diarea, obviously they're still gonna take the prescription that's still far preferable to the alternatvie of, well dying.
"Another fact is that the pharma industry pushes drugs for anything and everything they can."
I've adressed this before, government regulations can at least keep Big Pharma in check from shady practices like that, but you probably would just call the communism.

What is different about it? It's a combination of two plants. The trip only lasts for about 5 to 15 minutes and leaves no ill effects. Terrence McKenna's videos on YouTube explain what it is. He was an authority on it. There are a number of videos by people describing their experiences with it. McKenna said the only way you could die from DMT is by 'astonishment'. Btw, it's also not addictive. Gee, it must be a pretty powerful drug if it can make blind people 'see'! You DO know how ridiculous your are, right? Why hasn't Big Pharma patented it for all those blind people around the world? BTW You DO know what a trip is, don't you? It is the chemicals in the two combined plants acting on the receptors in your brain and giving you an altered reality as a result. ( Just like the anaesthesia drugs do, anti-depressants and the dying brain sees in NDE when there is disturbance of the normal brain function)....just like this. You have pretty much agreed here with my long held and posted evidence of consciousness being the result of electrical responses in co-ordination with brain chemical. Here is the proof even you can't refute. Pretty ironic really, though I am glad that you finally understand and acknowledge the complex chemistry of the brain It just shows how wilfully ignorant you are on pretty much every subject brought up on these boards.

They are not stupid and would know if they've experienced clarity different than what their usual senses do for them.
I DO know you don't know shit about DMT, specifically. That's obvious.
YOU are the most willfully ignorant person on this board and wouldn't know what to think or believe unless someone told you what to think or believe. You are incapable of an original thought.

So you are saying that some kind of experiment should be held on blind people taking this hallucinogen to see if they can 'see' again? Seriously? It is a hallucinogen. What else is there to know? I am NOT the person on here taking YouTube videos as gospel, quackery as medicinal, allegedly supernatural mumbo jumbo as a possibility and not knowing the first thing about the compendium of human knowledge, the scientific method or how to use logic to dsicern between all the shit you believe in and facts or reality. I didn't mean to see if their 'physical' sight would be restored.
I'm also not referring to anything except DMT. The people who use it say what they experience is another realm. Some even describe it as 'more real' than this reality. Sooooo, if they gave it to a person who has been blind since birth, and that person experienced the same 'realm', that would prove that it is indeed a realm separate from the 'physical' realm. Get it?

Here is a simple article for the dummies. www.acs.org/content/acs/en/molecule-of-the-week/archive/d/dimethyltryptamine.htmlThis drug is a psychotropic hallucinatory drug which affects the synapses of the brain producing 'euphoric 'symptoms' It is purely a chemical reaction and has nothing to do with anything 'outside the brain' It is VERY much the physical realm of brain chemistry and nothing else. Whilst not identical to other psychotropic drugs, it works in the same way New research is showing however that it might have side effects such as dependency if it is proven that it is the opioid synapse that are involved in parts of the 'effect'. You will note that it was discovered by Big Pharmer scientists at Pfizer. I actually think that with a little background medical scientific knowledge and some judicious internet research, (strangely enough steering clear of YouTube)that I now know MORE than you do about .Happy to share.

OF COURSE it's going to affect the brain and show in 'studies' how it affects the brain. But you can't tell me what happens when it's taken unless YOU'VE taken it. If you have never taken it, I don't give a shit what you think it is or how it affects the brain.
I'll listen to those who have experienced it before I bother listening to people who can't think beyond experiments on mice.
No government study is going to have glowing terms for anything that might interfere with big pharma's profits. So I'm not surprise the study was conducted by big pharma.
As far as 'dependency', I've yet to hear of anyone who ended up like a crack addict from taking it.

^ ^ wilfully ignorant person who rejects facts and scientific knowledge on an ad hoc basis ( hypocritically using technology and would accept medical interference if involved in an accident or illness) yet is arrogant enough to think that people who have taken psychotropic drugs know all about them. Anecdotal evidence is a speciality with these morons as they accept what some druggie says over the science along with conspiracy theories and other nonsense like NDE and out of body experiences. You can tell someone what effect you see on their brain but you can't tell them what they feel or see, or experience.
Big pharma will do all it can to destroy any other remedy that might eat into its billions per month profits. They would do what Edison did to Tesla if necessary.
Btw, if you can find statistics of people who have died or OD'd from taking DMT, I'd be interested in seeing them.

Seriously, you are incredibly stupid. The Hungarian studies had volunteers take the drug in large numbers and report their experiences. The difference being to your world that a proper scientific study/experiment was designed and the results coordinated in addition to the known reactions of pschotroipc drugs and the chemical mechanisms producing the sensations of these people. They are FACTS. In an experiment, THEY can report these things however, and they did. Since this was never a claim by me or anyone, this is a non-issue and a red herring to obfuscate the fact that you are an ill-educated wilfully ignorant moron. I am actually finding it amusing that you are making these claims about these drugs when it is pretty much diametrically opposed to your previous stated views on consciousness. LOL

DMT has been used by the Native Americans and other native tribes for decades with no ill effects.

I know you thing OD statistics is a 'red herring' because you can't refute what I said that it's not addictive or dangerous. And YOU DID imply DMT was just like LSD, heroin and the other illegal drugs.

Honestly, if you don't read what I post, I don't know why I bother. The Hungarian studies in the 1950's were to explore the effects of the drugs, and in California recently there has been further research into the chemistry to try and find a therapeutic use for the drug, due to some problems with the current drug Ketamine used for intransigent cases of depression. This was all in the article I posted. Science is looking for a safe, effective alternative. DMT is one of the options being studied. cen.acs.org/biological-chemistry/neuroscience/Ketamine-produce-antidepressant-effects-through/96/i36Here is evidence that there may be problems with this drug due to the possible effects of it efficiency being to the opioid receptors in the brain which MAY lead to dependency. More work is needed. Yes DMT is very like other hallucinogens in its effect on the brain, though science is working on any useful difference it has that might be therapeutic. BTW There are many natural substances that natïve tribes have used for years that science is now producing for therapeutic use. DMT is nothing special.
