Filmmaker Ron Bonk is an important figure in low budget horror cinema because he's the President of S.R.S. Cinema, a successful production company located in Central New York. Numerous independent filmmakers have worked under this label, which has brought them reasonable finances and relatively secure distribution deals, so Bonk deserves credit for this. He's also a prominent film director in his own right, having been active since the early 1990s. Nicknamed the Bonkman, Ron Bonk continues to amass fans as his budgets soar and his profile rises.
Filmmaker Jonathan Straiton has co-produced several of Ron Bonk's films released this decade. He's directed three films himself and currently has a fourth picture in production, the hotly anticipated action horror 'Johnny Z' (scheduled for 2019).
"Make something different, make something that has an impact. I see a lot of slick soulless horror movies. Make something that gets people talking, something that comes from your heart and mind and make a statement with your work, whether serious or lighthearted or something in between."

"I grew up watching a lot of 80’s horror. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to make movies yet I was still green about the process. Which as a kid aloud me to enjoy the pure entertainment of it, even the not so great ones."

Do you enjoy any movies directed by Ron Bonk or Jonathan Straiton?
Thanks.

Ron Bonk's films are centred, studied and satirical. Many view the rape revenge shocker 'She Kills' (2016) as his magnum opus. It's a well-made film that showcases Bonk favourite Jennie Russo in fine form. I think I prefer his monster movie 'House Shark' (2017) which comments on the undulating shark wave permeating horror cinema with a degree of humour and features one of the all-time great openings. That's my choice when it comes to Bonk. Unsurprisingly, there's already talk of a possible shark sequel.

I like Jonathan Straiton's horror movie 'Night Of Something Strange' (2016). It taps into a state of panic being felt by many young people regarding the sudden rise in sexually transmitted diseases, a rise aligned to a sharp decline in effective antibiotics, the film tipping its hat to David Robert Mitchell's influential horror 'It Follows' (2014). I believe it's filmed largely in Virginia. I hope 'Night Of Something Strange' can eventually find a wider audience.

Strawberry Estates is alright.
I never saw it but it had a loyal following on the old imdb which momentarily piqued my interest.
