I've always wondered why the brought in a new character with Eve instead of using Lilah as the liaison to the Senior Partners; not because I disliked Eve, but rather because it seems like the logical direction to go; and some of the developments, like Eve working with Lindsay (and literally getting into bed with him) might have had a more striking impact if it were Lilah.
So here's the thought, what if, since Wesley couldn't destroy Lilah's contract, he did the next best thing by negotiating for it, by agreeing to joining Wolfram and Hart on the condition that Lilah be released from her perpetuity clause?

I've always wondered about that. It almost seemed as if Home was setting that up for season 5.
I've never checked to see if Stephanie Romanov was either unwilling or unavailable to commit to the show at that point. Or was it due to the budget cuts? A new actress would no doubt be cheaper than a recurring character.
I don't believe Wesley had anything to do with Lilah's contract. Angel accepted the deal for all of them. Executive decision.

Interesting ideas guys. I agree that Lilah should have been the liaison in Season 5, and working with Lindsey would have been great. But I think she should have still been a ghost/dead. And I would still have wanted her to have her "redemption" but other than that she would have been great in Season 5!
