I always liked the adult part of the book/mini-series better than the kid part of the mini-series/2017 adaptation/book as i felt monster vs kids was done better in Monster Squad but this i'm looking forward to because of the adult part and nice cast.

It looks great. I am looking forward to seeing this and a lot of the other Stephen King adaptions coming out this year. This is a great time for Stephen King fans and I am hoping the remake of 'Firestarter' is as good as the remakes of 'It' 'cause it has always been one of my favs.

I never read the book. So does Pennywise actually have an origin story? Was he ever really a human being?

To say this one is a "remake' of the 1990 miniseries is like saying the upcoming 2-film Dune film is a "remake" of the 1984 Lynch film and 2000 miniseries or saying any film based on Dracula by Bram Stoker is like saying they are "remakes" of the 1931 Bela Lugosi film or Nosferatu (1922).

I never read the book. So does Pennywise actually have an origin story? Was he ever really a human being? From what I understand as I haven't read the book either but "Pennywise" is just the preferred form that "IT" takes, IT being a creature billions of years old that was born outside of our universe, IT crashed on earth at some point where it then slept for years where it landed which is where the town Derry would later be built, then IT awoke once people inhabited the area and thus began IT's cycle of hibernating for 26-7 years to then feed on people for a time and return to slumber.
IT is psychic so it can read the minds of it's prey and shapeshifts into the form which will cause the most fear, Pennywise I think is just a form it found along the way which it then enjoyed and used as a default persona in hunting, not sure if it's just a creation of a kids fear of clowns or if Pennywise was a real person that IT just took the form of or killed though.

Pennywise is an ancient monster who came to our world from another dimensnion eons ago and slept in Maine until the late 1700s when it woke and ate some people then every 30 years it resurfaces for more food.
It's a Lovecraftian creature.

Having read the book, this description is accurate.

That is a very accurate description dazz and to add on to that Pennywise is one of the Deadlights which are these mysterious and deadly beings of orange light that can't be seen in their true form or they cause people to die or go insane and Pennywise's enemy was its brother, the Turtle. The Turtle was seen as being more of a creator while Pennywise was the Destructor or the Devourer and they were both created by 'The Other.' I can't remember but I seem to recall Pennywise had some connection to Randall Flagg from 'The Stand' who is also Walter Padick in 'The Dark Tower' and a lot of King's novels connect on to each other and take place in the same universe but they have yet to connect them on screen.
