I am a non-religious person as they come but I won't mind visiting this temple and meeting with these lovely bears. I watched the video as I love animals however I am concerned that due to a quasi religious 'belief' about the goddess, they are incorrectly treating these wild animals by feeding them 'coconut and sweet's. The coconut is possibly not so bad however processed foods will end up with those animals having health problems and unnatural painful cavities as they are not having a healthy natural diet.

Junk food has been found to slow hibernation in big bears (Griz/Brown) but Asiatic bears don't have to go through hibernation because it's not so cold. I appreciate those people and their love for animals.

I am not saying that they are not Hindus although there are at least two instances of when their leaders have said they are not Hindus. I am just saying that they are bloody cultists. That said there are many other types of cultists who come under Hindu domain so it's not that being cultists stops them from being Hindus. Anyone who proclaims to be a Hindu is a Hindu. It's a loosely defined religion anyway. Just that most of the HK nonsense is contrary to orthodox Hinduism and in fact contrary to orthodox Vaishnavism.
I would further like to give my opinion on Vaishnavism. Vaishnavism itself is a sect that was very strongly influenced by Jainism. It's just a slightly more practical version of Jainism. Further, Vaishnavism was also influenced by Islam and then Christianity during the Victorian era. All in all, Vaishnavism has been influenced by all sorts of religions to become what it is today. Shaivism is a lot closer to old Hinduism.
I can just tell you that I know more than one Hare Krishna. And they do not live in some commune, but are educated professionals. One friend was raised in a Hare Krishna home and acts like any other white guy. Religions start out as cults but become mainstream. My partner's parents are followers of Osho, the Sri Rajneesh cult. They are very tame and not wild crazees. Interesting comment about Vaishnavism and Jainism. Here's a link which covers it but says it's not common knowledge. gaudiyadiscussions.gaudiya.com/topic_2086.htmlYou seem to be saying Shaivism is more orthodox and Vaishnavism is syncretic. But I just don't see any elements of Christianity or especially Islam in Vaishnavism. What are they? Their monotheism. Their prudery towards sex. They definitely don't represent India that is represented by Kamasutra. Their extreme anti-sex stance is nauseating. Their conservatism is heavily derived from Victorian era values.
Liberal Shaivism is pretty different when it comes to sex and lifestyle.

That's okay, M. I don't have anything against Swedes, but I was told my father didn't like them. He thought Swedes were stoopid.

Those are more cultural influences than religious though. Nothing about Vaishnavist doctrine or cosmology is Christian or Muslim. Hmmm...monotheism is not a religious stance?
When Islam invaded India they had their own agenda. They finished off Buddhism instantly because ungodly people are the worst ones in their eyes. Among non-Muslims they are slightly more tolerant of monotheists and that's why Vaishnavism adapted to monotheism.
