I put this above Casino and The Departed. It's hilarious. When people talk of Scorsese this film seems not talked about as much of some of his others. It's in my top 5 for his flicks. Jerry Lewis, Sandra Bernhard amazing. Look fast for Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio at the beginning.

I haven’t seen it for about 30-35 years.
But yeah, I remember how good it was.
I’m a way it kind of reminds me of After Hours in the sense that you keep on wanting to tell the leads (Dunne in AH, Bernhard in this film) to NOT DO WHAT THEYRE ABOUT TO DO!!
And it’s kinda painful watching them.

Possibly De Niro's greatest performance. He is dazzling in this film. Even Jerry Lewis is bearable.

I think that movie is pretty average/forgettable. I viewed it once on Mar 28th 2014 and I have no desire to re-watch it and that's my measuring stick for whether a movie is ultimately of any worth or not.
when it comes to Scorsese's top movies in my mind it boils down to the following...
1)The Color of Money (1986) - 8/10 (this movie is underrated. for those who don't know, this is the sequel to The Hustler (1961) which is the role Paul Newman was born to play.) 2)Casino (1995) - 7.5-8/10 -)The Departed (2006) 4)The Aviator (2004)
everything else is pretty much average (i.e. 5/10) at best.
NOTE: I have seen a high percentage of his movies, which is everything short of four movies.

Ha, their cameo comes at the end and lasts for a minute or so. Yeah, After Hours really is painful. I love it when Dunne is in the bar after finding Marcy dead, and Heard gets off the phone yelling “Marcy Marcy Marcy!!”. Way funny. But I’ll have to looked up the KOC when I go back inside to see if I can watch it for free.

I don't know if I'd put it above Casino and definitely not The Departed, but yes, its an underrated gem of a movie with excellent performances all around.
