While the theatrical cut is noticably worse than the Director's or Final cuts, it doesn't eliminate the greatness and depth of Blade Runner. Luckily Roger Ebert has sinse revised his opinion of the movie and gave it 4 stars, as well as adding it to his Great Movies list.
But in their defense, I do believe Blade Runner requires at least one rewatch to appreciate it to a great extent.

Siskel and Ebert are both 100% correct in that video, this is why Blade Runner bombed at the US box office. A good movie doesn't need 7 re-edits to "get it right." This cult that sprang up insisting it's good due to nostalgia goggles are bizarre to me.

So me thinking it was great when I watched it for the first time 10 years ago when I was in my early 20's and multiple times since, is because of nostalgia?

Are you a Ridley or Harrison Ford fan interested in what they made in their prime?

Are you a Ridley or Harrison Ford fan interested in what they made in their prime? That is absolute garbage logic. That means you can just right off any opinion you don't agree with based on any criteria you want.
So what if he loves Harrison Ford in his prime? I am a fan of Scorsese and DeNiro in their prime, but that doesn't all of a sudden make me like New York, New York.
I love Blade Runner a lot more than Alien and Blade Runner is the one I DON'T have nostalgia for.
Blade Runner is beautiful and haunting existential sci-fi imo and I am saying that about even the theatrical cut.

Too bad that they didn’t like it. But to be fair, the theatrical cut is considerably weaker than subsequent versions.
