I'm sure it will be good, but that's a bit disappointing that Zimmer won't be involved.

I'm sure it will be good, but that's a bit disappointing that Zimmer won't be involved. I wasn't implying that it won't be good. Just the cast is made up of actors I am not particularly a fan of (besides Branagh and Caine), and even though I am positive the new composer will do well, the Zimmer fanboy in me is very upset.

Wtf. Why?
I’m sorry, but this new guy has not made a single great soundtrack. To be fair, he hasn’t been given much to work with as far as pushing the boundaries of composition, but this concerns me.
He also ditched his editor, Lee Smith, that did all of his movies since Batman Begins. That sucks as well.

Well it's not like Spielberg has used editor Michael Khan and composer John Williams on all his films. I mean if Spielberg can do this and have things work out, then so can Nolan.
Also, it's possible that maybe Nolan wanted to use those guys but couldn't because they're busy with other projects.
I think we should give benefit of the doubt and not assume disaster will happen. Nolan is a smart guy and wouldn't hire replacement unless he felt they're worthy of succeeding his previous collaborators.

His mixing of tribal music and hip hop beats is quite creative imo, especially for an MCU movie.

Spielberg has used John Williams on almost every movie he has made, so that seems like an odd example. I never meant to imply that things won't work out, but ironically Ready Player One is one of Spielberg's worst movies imo and has probably his most forgettable score.

Mandy is the only score from last year that blew me away.

I don’t think it spells disaster, and honestly I’ll probably be perfectly happy with everything all around, but it’s a shame to see him lose two of the most important members of the 100% perfect technical team that made Dunkirk so special.

Hmm. Apparently he produced "Redbone", which I think is a pretty great song. And I like BP's score.
Maybe Nolan is trying to branch out a bit if he's also using a different editor. I'm fine with that.

I admit I forgot about Bridge of Spies and I wasn't counting the movies he directed before ever using John Williams. The difference is that John Williams hasn't really been a big asset for most of his movies since Munich imo. John Williams hasn't impressed me in quit a while. So that just leaves The Color Purple and Ludwig Göransson is no Quincy Jones and this new cast is super lame on paper. I'm not saying he won't turn in a great score, but Zimmer and Nolan are a great collaboration. I am also not saying he won't get very good performances from his new cast, but it is a bit worrisome to me.
