Well who knows what kind of small independent movies Tron: Legacy badly overshadowed, yet she was still in it and spent time promoting it. Did she say "Go see my movie" or "Don't go see other movies"? It may seem like the same thing, but it's not. Also, while social media existed in 2010, it didn't have the same influence as today. Also-also, there's a difference between an up-and-coming actress promoting a movie where she's not the lead and an A-lister promoting a movie she directed. Is that you in your profile pic?

She is practically begging her fans to see it cause she is a woman
Yes, it does sound like self-promotion, with an attempted guilt trip added at the end of her tweet. "See my movie or you will be part of the reason movies by women will not be green-lighted."

Not that I was going to see it anyway but one more reason for me not to see it.
Sick of these idiots making everything about race and sex. Her movie flops and if you don't see it you're keeping women down lol.

I agree she could have just said this is a movie that was made by women about women but she had to throw in the whole don't give people a reason not to Green light movies made by women.

Isn't the business of the film industry about promotion and marketing? Chances are that if your panties got twisted by her message you weren't ever going to see her movie to begin with so I don't see the problem with her appealing to her demographic.
I wonder if the same people posting about her pushing agendas and their offended sensibilities say boo about Christian films promoting their products to Church groups.
If you have, please post a link to a post where you have done that. I'd gladly congratulate you on being single minded about film promotion.

Here it is again btw "Anyone out there saving @booksmart for another day, consider making that day TODAY. We are getting creamed by the big dogs out there and need your support. Don’t give studios an excuse not to green-light movies made by and about women. 💪❤️💪" I'm not a female and I don't go out of my way to see female oriented films, and nothing in her message asking people to help a film about and by women makes me feel the slightest bit bothered, offended, or guilty. So please explain as unless you are against women movies what you have to feel guilty about?

Because simp, she is saying if you don't go see this movie you are contributing to women movies not getting green lit. And I didn't say I feel guilty, because I could care less which movies get green lit. She is making people who support woman movies feel guilty which is her audience.

That's what she is. She made a movie and put her politics and agenda in it. Which she is free to do. Free country right? But don't whine about people not liking it criticizing her for it or not going to see her movie.
All movies get criticized and if they're political they are judged differently.
Look how the Left reacted to Unplanned.
Look how the Left reacted to fucking Roseanne saying she supported Trump. They were outraged Roseanne's show would even dare to have an open Trump supporter.
A lot of people don't like woke SJW politics, as her movies B.O. is beautifully illustrating.

I still don't see where she is trying to make anyone feel guilty. Again, per my first post, if a Christian filmaker tweeted that their film needs support and would supporters of Christian movies please see their movie to show hollywood that these films deserve attention and must be made - would you feel that they were doing anything outside of normal promotion to their demographics? If you have, please post a link so I can appreciate better where you are coming from.

I don't get why so many comments on this thread are so antagonizing. Olivia didn't say to watch it just because it's a movie made by and about women. She said that those kinds of movies don't get green-lit by studios very often (the fact that BOOKSMART is a low-budget indie is an indirect proof) because they fear there won't be profits. She's not even trying to convince people to see it; she said that if you're already interesting in seeing it then you should do it ASAP, since the movie could be removed from theatres if the ticket sales are too low. Especially if you choose to watch a big budget movie that you've already seen instead. Also isn't it kinda hypocritical of her to go after big movies when she starred in Tron: Legacy and Cowboys & Aliens? Both of which sucked, but that's beside the point. She didn't say there's something wrong with blockbusters; just that in this particular case her movie is competing against a bunch of them and that there should be enough variety of genres for people to choose. When Solo bombed did Ron Howard ask people to come see it to support male filmmakers?

Uhm, Dude. Who is the one whining here? Not me. I made the case for all filmakers to plead to their bases. Funny that you brought up Roseanne. Did you or do you have a problem with her pushing her agenda? If not you are being a hypocrite. To answer your question in advance I didn't. Funny how you ignored my original question of if you have issues with Christian filmakers doing the same thing.

She had an anti Trump character too. She had a freaking trans kid on the show. The show wasn't about her being a Trump supporter.
But Roseanne was a progressive icon for decades. Her show had the first lesbian kiss on Prime Time TV. Her show had several gay characters on it back in the 80s.
Her sister's character on the reboot of show was RABIDLY ANTI TRUMP.
So what agenda was she pushing? Having her show represent 2016 America?
But the Left went ballistic that the number 1 show on TV even had a single Trump supporter on it.
So quit whining. I don't have a problem with anyone putting anything in their shows. But I don't want to hear them whining when people notice it.

Again you are whining while accusing others of doing that. Please for the third time answer my question if you have any issue with Christian filmakers asking their base to support their films to show hollywood these films need to be made. Your silence on this so far is telling about your agenda

If Christians want to beg people to come to their movies, good for them. But don't whine about it when your movie bombs and people criticize you over it.
Quit being so stupid and assuming things about people. "My agenda" lol. STFU dummy.
