May 26th would have been Peter Cushing's 106th birthday, an actor most well known for his many horror roles, but also for portraying Sherlock Holmes in a series of films, and for his role as Grand Moff Tarkin in the original Star Wars movie (and technically, also in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

I've always liked him. You could count on him to give a good performance, no matter how good or bad the movie was.

One of my favourites. Because he is so heavily associated with horror movies, I think it is sometimes overlooked what a fine dramatic actor he was. He always brought a professionalism and a touch of class to every role.
By all accounts he was also a lovely man, one of the industry's true gentlemen.

He and Christopher Lee practically built Hammer Films. Indeed they did.
