We've been groovin' on some ice cool cuts from Stretch (hey, they also had a Peel Session released in 1996) and from Denim with a fuzzy felt look back at the decade we're buzzing on - Judge and Natty Dread, George Best, David Essex, Oxford bags and crushed velvet flares...hey, even Jeremy Thorpe gets a shout. And was that Hot Gossip number suitably burnin' your ears? I'm pretty sure Doc will have turned up the heat on that Sparks cut as well; and lookee here, Mainman David Bowie rocked up with his 15 minute live version of Width of a Circle. Set aside a quarter-hour, pop-pickers, and let this audio and visual feast give your finer senses the massage of a lifetime. Here's a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper from 1974, just a-stutterin' and a-flutterin' all the way around...Alright?

Ah, it all came back to me hearing 'Howzat' again - one I'd forgotten about there and chuffed to hear again. That's a sensational sound and just so quintessentially 70s and we love it. And pin back yer lugs for a stack full of hot wax including Danny Kirwan (posted on the first anniversary of his untimely death, June 8th last year) a saucy slab of glam slam thank ye mam from Sweet, some romantic reggae from a lady still going strong at 67, Hammy Bohannon stompin' up the place, ride that gear-shift at 1:50, pop-pickers. There's enuff there to keep you going a while so enjoy!
Hey, it's Friday, it's five o'clock, it's... time for a Chinese Takeaway.

Hey, Private Dick and Cop show lovers, here's a couple of swingin' groovebusters from two of our favourite shows. In the blue corner is that taco-munchin' beach bum Jimbo Rockford in his trusty Trans Am and in the red corner those two villain-bustin' undercover dawgs Dave and Ken, they of the polyester hair and dime-store threads.
Now where Angel and Huggy Bear at?

I know this song from Art Bell bumper music. I like how the intro sounds like music for a 70s cop show.

Well, jukebox jivers, there's the sweet sound of, er, well, Sweet again with a rockin' little piece of vinyl and Miss Quatro going hell for leather down to the Devil Gate Drive, while Bram and Hoople also make a welcome appearance. And what a truly sensational sound from Jigsaw there, a real seventies scorcher with some tight ass arrangements goin' down for your enjoyment. I did a bit of research on this and it's had its fair share of cover versions and re-mixes but you can't whack the original, eh? Even US rap dudes Bone-Thugs-n-Harmony sampled the track in 2007.
Let's go a-coochin' and a-moochin' with a deliciously laid back number from 1979 that'll chill those uptight nerves a treat. Just relax, pop-pickers. Alright?

Badfinger - Baby Blue

|
Post by staggerstag on Jun 13, 2019 23:06:52 GMT
Hey, Vinyl Vamps, it's all over now, baby blue...say what? no it's not, just as long as there's a Badfinger stirring up the brew.
Let's keep the rockin' a-rockin' with a joyously funkified swamp rock killer from those far out cats from California. They hit #5 in the US Hit Parade in 1974 and #2 in Belgium with this stomper which will have you reaching for your dancing heels in no time. What a sensational sound from these guys. Call it Native American with a little bit of Mexican, Cajun, with a good dose of good old solid funk thrown in for good measure. Call it what you want - if it feels good, funk it. Alright?

Love the Plastic Betrand track, but love the same backing track with more twisted lyrics even more
