There will be a news conference on Thursday revealing new information. I believe it will include the names of the victims in the barrels as I’ve heard rumors about at least one being identified over a month ago. For those not familiar with the case here’s a write up below that I did on the case before they found out the killer’s real name was Terri Peder Rasmussen.
Like law enforcement did today, I’ll refer to the man responsible as Bob Evans throughout. Bob Evans has been linked to two unresolved cases in New Hampshire and a solved murder in California. The first case is Denise Beaudin. Denise Beaudin was a 23-year-old woman from Manchester, NH. She was last seen on Thanksgiving, 1981 but is never reported missing. Information regarding this case from the Charley Project. The second case is four female victims who were found in barrels in Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, NH. Three of the four victims found were related, the adult female, the oldest child, and the youngest child. The middle child had no relation to the other barrel victims. The link between these cases came from the middle child of the Allenstown victims. She was the daughter of Bob Evans. Robert “Bob’’ Evans was an electrician who was hired to work at the Waumbec Mills in downtown Manchester, NH. He lived on Hayward Street with his girlfriend, 23-year-old Denise Beaudin, and Denise’s infant daughter, Dawn. On November 26, 1981, the couple and the child went to Denise’s family’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. After that Thanksgiving Dinner, Bob Evans made his way to California. Police are theorizing that he either murdered Denise and took her daughter, or took them both with him and murdered Denise somewhere between NH and CA. They are certain that Denise was murdered by Bob Evans and for some reason he continued to raise Denise’s daughter, whom he began calling Lisa. The next time we know Bob’s whereabouts is between March 1983 and May of 1985, where is hired and working as an electrician in Los Alamitos, CA using the alias Curtis Kimball In May of 1985, Bob Evans is arrested in Cypress, CA. He was driving drunk with Lisa in the car and got into an accident. He was charged, under the alias Curtis Mayo Kimball, with DUI, endangering a child (Lisa), and hit and run of property. He then moved with Lisa to Scott’s Valley, CA and began living and working at the Holiday Host RV Park under the alias of Gordon Curtis Jenson (or Jensen). In June or July of 1986 he leaves Lisa with a neighbor in the RV park and never comes back. Lisa stays with the family for a short while before being put into a foster home, and eventually she was adopted. In September of 1986, fingerprints of Gordon Jenson (Jensen) are found to be a match for the fingerprints of Curtis Mayo Kimball from the DUI arrest in 1985. The next month, three felony warrants are issued for Gordon Curtis Jenson (Jensen). Evans is arrested a month later, using the alias Gerry Mockerman, in San Luis Obispo, related to a vehicle he had stolen from Preston, Idaho. He is sentenced to three years in prison. After about 18 months, Evans is paroled and the next day he takes off. His whereabouts for almost the next 11 years are unknown to law enforcement. At some point during this time, Bob Evans begins to date a woman by the name of Eunsoon Jun in Richmond, CA. In August of 2001, Evans and Jun have an unofficial wedding ceremony in a backyard in Richmond. Evans is using the alias Lawrence William Vanner at this time. In September of 2002, Jun goes missing and a missing person’s report is initiated by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s office. A short while later, Jun’s body is found buried in her basement. After being fingerprinted, Evans, now going by Lawrence Vanner, is also found out to be Curtis Kimball. He is arrested in November of 2002 for the murder of Eunsoon Jun. In June of 2003, against the wishes of his attorney, Bob Evans pleads guilty to Eunsoon Jun’s murder, is convicted, and receives a sentence of 15 years to life in a California prison. He is incarcerated until he dies in prison on December 28, 2010. Connecting the dots. After Evans was arrested, it was determined that he was not biologically related to Lisa. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office began an investigation to determine who Lisa Jenson (Jensen) really was. In 2014, the San Bernardino COSO enlists the help of DNAAdoption.com and one of their genealogists to determine Lisa’s true identity. Finally, in 2016, a cousin and grandfather of Lisa are identified in NH, proving that Lisa was Dawn Beaudin, the daughter of Denise Beaudin. Around this time, through follow up investigations and DNA testing, that Bob Evans was the father of the middle child of the Bear Brook Murders. There are a few other things that connect Bob Evans to the area where the bodies were found in Bear Brook. The owner of the Waumbec Mills in Manchester, NH was also the owner of the property where the barrels were found. He had employed Bob Evans both at the mills and to do work at the camp store he owned in Bear Brook State Park. Law enforcement also learned that Evans dumped materials from the mill in the same area where the bodies were found, so he was familiar with the area. I have been intrigued by the Bear Brook Murders for so long. I grew up within miles of where the bodies were found. I spent and continue to spend a lot of time in the park hiking and fishing. I have friends and family who live right next to where the bodies were found or in the vicinity and driving by the area I always wonder about the case. I thought there was a slight chance we would find out who the victims in the barrels were but not the killer. It’s weird that it happened the other way around, finding out who the murderer was but still not knowing the victim’s identities. There are still so many questions that remain though. Who is Bob Evans? There doesn’t seem to be any record of him in NH before the facts that were told today. Knowing how many aliases he used after leaving, it’s probably safe to assume he had many more before he began using the name Bob Evans. He is thought to have killed at least 4, probably 6, people in New Hampshire in what looks like about 4 years. Were there more victims before that? There’s a huge gap in the 1990’s that his whereabouts are unknown. Did he kill more people in between 1990 and being arrested for Eunsoon Jun’s murder? What happened to Denise Beaudin? Law enforcement said today, they believed she was murdered, and I have the same feeling. They recently were investigating the house she shared with Evans in Manchester, NH but did not find any human remains. They also stated today that they were going back into Bear Brook in the spring and were going to look around again and use ground penetrating equipment to determine if there are more bodies. Finally, who are the victims in the barrels? We know the middle child is Bob Evans’ daughter but what is her name? Who and where is her mother since she’s not related to the other victims? Who are the other three victims? I’ve always thought it was strange that 3 people who are related could go missing and nobody would say anything. But now after learning about Denise and her daughter not being reported missing, the same thing could have happened with the other victims. Hopefully with the information that was released today, these questions will finally get answered. Link to news article and press conference today
