I grew up in the era of Famous Monsters of Filmland and have many fond memories of reading every new issue (I still have a substantial run of them in my collection). The Famous Monsters for the post Baby Boomer generation was definitely FANGORIA, which premiered in 1979. It soon became THE go-to place for all things "horror in entertainment."
Fango's track record is simply amazing: 37 years! But all good things must come to an end, and Fangoria has finally bitten the dust. There hasn't been a physical issue since October of 2015, and the last digital issue came out in 2016 sometime. Just this past week, an announcement came down that the magazine--for all intents and purposes--was dead.
A sad day indeed.
RIP Fangoria. Fun while it lasted. Thanks for all the great covers, the emphasis on obscure sci-fi and horror films, and the glorious photography. You'll be much missed!
