I imagine that they will among those who are upper middle class and above but spend a lot of time at work and need some help to get things done. I imagine that they'll be more common in Japan than in the US due to the differing perceptions of robots in both places. I'm sure that single women will want them for protection. I imagine that it's going to be sort of a combination of an arm's race and keeping up with the neighbors where once one person has it the rest won't feel comfortable unless they have it as well. I imagine that it's going to be sort of slow at first until the robots develop keener senses and better interactivity. I think that people will probably have more than one kind of multi-use robot. Maybe some sort of drone to move small objects around and a ground robot that helps with more mundane stuff. The truth though is that these are all guesses based on what little I know. I'd imagine somebody else who's more into robotics could give you a more accurate and specific answer.
