Xavier, Magneto and Mystique were not focal characters in X2. They didn't come that until First Class and by Dark Phoenix 2/3 were side characters. No offence but I think you are suffering from confirmation bias. Wolverine was always a focal character in any movie he was in. He wasn’t exactly a focal character in First Class or Apocalypse.

Let's indulge in a little reality here - he only cameoed in First Class. With what little screen time he had in Apocalypse, he surely sucked all of the air of that room. It's the only thing I remember about that film.

No wonder you thought the ideas in Dark Phoenix were undercooked. A lot of them were developed in Apocalypse and Days of Future Past.

I took the time to re-watch both DoFP and Apocalypse back to back just last night. Now I remember them both as if I'd seen them yesterday - because I did. Guess what? DP is still an undercooked, half-assed superhero film with lousy pacing, atrocious dialogue, and spectacularly bad direction. Kinberg really needed to take a few more classes.

You've only seen DP once and it was several weeks ago though. I rewatched DOFP and Apocalypse then saw Dark Phoenix for a second time on June 20th. The ideas felt more cooked that time around. Not sure what pacing, dialogue, and direction have to do with my post as I was strictly talking about it on a narrative level.

Lord Death Man Speaking pacing I have come to found that many people found Dark Phoenix to be slow paced, noticeably Doug Walker. Pacing was slower for me on the second time as well. I guess it depends on your mood.

All of those elements contribute to the narrative flow --- in case you didn't know.

No it doesn't. The pacing was uneven. You said it was too quick, not uneven. It's mostly too quick but, there's slow stuff that was straight-up boring, too.

Someone pointed out to me the movie takes a lot and a lot of time trying to build up the scenes of the movie. It takes literally half the entire movie for Jean to kill Mystique and join Magneto. Before that, we only see slow development of Charles and Beast saying "she's changing" and "something bad is happening" and stuff. I felt that myself on the seconding viewing.

If I'm thanking the series can I exclude Apocalypse and dark phoenix.
It should have stopped with Logan. There is noone that can defend this movie DP
