I have to watch the game on Telemundo, in Spanish. Beats paying for it though, don't think I would do that.

The ref blows up on an entertaining game. Uruguay top the group on 4, with Japan (1) in 3rd spot with Chile (3) and Ecuador (0) coming up same time tomorrow.

Mexico defeating Canada, & Canada pointing out all they learned from the loss.
How many dozens of times in my life do I have to read/hear that.

Yes, it seems it was a good game, best in the tournament so far, with the young (*) Japanese team being in the losing end of two questionable VAR decisions that could have changed the outcome.
(*)Japan sent a team composed mostly of young players who will be eligible to play in the Olympics at home next year.

Final score Brazil 5x0 Peru. Brazil takes first place in the group and Venezuela surprisingly finishes second, after beating Bolivia. Peru still has a chance to advance as one of the best third place teams.

BRAZIL 1/1
URUGUAY 9/2
COLOMBIA 6/1
CHILE 8/1
ARGENTINA 8/1
25/1 BAR
Looking forward to the Qatar/Argy game on Sunday. As a matter of course, and unfortunately, the other group game is played at the same time.

Qatar 12/1
Argies 1/8
Draw 5/1
Argentina know they must win this one to progress, and that goes for Qatar too.
Prior to this tournament, and since going out to France at WC2018, Argentina have played nothing but friendlies, nine of them - winning v Guatemala, Iraq, Mexico (twice) Morocco and Nicaragua, while succumbing to Brazil & Venezuela and drawing with Colombia. They are currently not at their best, as you all know, mis-shapen, disjointed and without flair.
Following his diabolical non-performance in the group opener v Colombia, Aguero only came on as a half time sub v Paraguay but may well start tonight v the arabs. Coach Scaloni really does need his big names to perform for this one.
Earlier this year Qatar romped to the Asian Cup title with a 100% win record over 7 games, seeing off teams like North Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia and, in the final, Japan. They've recently lost to Colombia and Brazil (friendly) but by a not embarrassing tally of 3 goals. Their sole point came in their last outing v Paraguay when they fought back in the final 20 minutes with two pots for 2-2. They currently sit above the Argies on goals scored (2 versus 1)

Huh? Either I was still half asleep earlier and seeing things, or the Argies have drifted almost 50%. Just had another check on B365 and their odds are 2/9. Yes, that's more like it. Wait, I've gotta check this.
Yes, indeed, I made an error earlier as I've just checked B365's Argie betting history since midnight and it's 2/9 all the way. F*** knows where I got 1/8 from.

I wondered when you'd spot that, Wilson! Haha. By way of penitence I've instructed Jonesy to send the boy round to you with my weekly ration of half ounce of corned beef, for your alertness. Even 2/9 is pushing it. Can't see it being a stroll in the park by any stretch. They'll more than likely win it but I'm hoping for a huge upset, although it really wouldn't be that huge because the Argies are suffering something akin to the footballing equivalent of writer's block.

Make sure Jonesy doesn't give me all those mingy crumbs like last time. Elizabeth is still not talking to me.

Why was Firminos "no look" goal so amazing? It was a tap in after some shocking goal keeping.

The two sides observe the national anthems in the 28c heat, in this reasonably well-filled bubbling sundrenched cauldron of a stadium. Qatar mean business. "We have not come here," they say, "to take pictures of Lionel Messi."

Dear god, what was that from Kalkouhi? He's in his own area with his keeper, no pressure. He inexplicably plays a ball across the face of goal directly, I mean directly, to the feet of Martinez who can't believe it. Martinez has it handed to him on a plate and slots it past the keeper for 1-0 Argentina.
They'll take the goals any way they can - and they certainly didn't turn their nose up at that gift with '4 gone.
