I finally got a chance to see this in a cinema and really liked it.
Zac did a great job portraying Ted Bundy, I enjoyed how the story was told and loved John Malkowitch performance was the judge.
I didn’t really know much about Bundy so it kept me on the edge of my seat.
I recommend it.
7/10
Did you see it? what did you think?

Like you said, the performances, overall, were good. The thing about this is? The real Bundy is far more frightening than any theatrical interpretation of him could be. Netflix recent 3 part documentary on him was brutal. This man was a ball of rage at the basest human level. Truly a monster.

Given that I didn’t know too much about Bundy, I enjoyed it. Zac Efron nailed it.

It was ok. Efron was limited because it was too busy trying to make him look like the hero. They actually wasted some potential for a truly great performance in my opinion.

I agree, but he's such a recent villain in history, they had to maintain the dignity of the victims and respect for the families. It would be really poor taste to have a movie high lighting his kills IMO. Efron is on my radar though, he's more than a pretty face. A true crime movie I remember really liking is Helter Skelter from 1976. It really laid out the Manson murders.

It was brilliant the way they portrayed him. My wife wasn't familiar with Bundy at all prior to watching the film. The way they present him is how is victims saw him 'before' he struck.
- Charismatic - Charming - Funny - Intelligent
etc...
So when it got to the sentencing in Florida, my wife says to me, "Did he ever confess? Like, did he really do it?" And that's the moment it clicked with me. This film is genius. It's showing the audience the man people saw, not the monster. Sometimes people say, "I don't know how a woman could be tricked like that" or "That guy is a monster" But they don't see how he was able to 'manipulate" people.
This film showed it perfect. I think the only thing it was missing was perhaps showing a scene at the end where Bundy walks up to a girl, laughing, charming, funny, etc.. then just TURNS, and shows a brutal murder. Just to give you that, "Oh, okay... now I see." moment. The 'Hacksaw" in the fogged up glass wasn't enough.
Other than that, it was great. 8/10 for me.

Given that I didn’t know too much about Bundy, I enjoyed it. Zac Efron nailed it. exactly. i think for viewers like us who didnt really inow that much about Bundy it was a pretty good movie. I watched his execution interview after and I must say I get why women were into him. Very smart and elloquamt guy, O am sure that when he turned his charm on women would give him lots of attention. I actually found that interiew extremelly valuable as well, content wise. If you havent seen it, do watch it. its 45 minutes of high quality discussion mostly around correlation of violence and hard core porn.

Other than that, it was great. 8/10 for me. that hacksaw part was a trally well done scene. and i agree, that was really well done, the way it showed how evil really can just be pretty much anyone walking amongst us and it doesnt always show itself as the outright noticeable evil. PS - I was just like your wife. I even rootted for him for a good part of the movie. Odd feeling.

Aside from the 2 lead performances, I don't think there was anything particularly noteworthy as far as this genre goes. The scenes that recreate news clips are very stylized (music, editing, some of the dialogue, etc...) and I don't get why. The way they really happened were already stranger than fiction. Showing the real clips during the end credits highlighted this, although I had already seen them in the Netflix docuseries. Speaking of, it's already tricky to make a fictional movie about something that's already been covered in a popular documentary... but that they're both made by the same director and they both come out a couple of months apart? What's the point?

What's the point? to me the point is to show the person from the persoective of the gf and the society you know appearig as much less dangerous person, slowly unraveilig the psychology behind it. also a lot of people prefer fiction over docs.

to me the point is to show the person from the persoective of the gf But there are many scenes where she doesn't appear in. Events that the real Elizabeth couldn't know happened. a lot of people prefer fiction over docs. Definitely, but we're talking about one that managed to be popular in the mainstream (partly because of its availability). I'm sure many people, like me, saw both projects.
