If they've been in Hollywood long enough they shouldn't be shocked by anything.

How is being in a sex cult a crime?
'But they branded some of their members.'
Well that's their fault for being gullible idiots.
How long did she get?

I think she is being sentenced in September. What made this cult a crime, was that some of its members were not of age.

I don't know why anyone should be shocked by it, really. Hollywood has had a history virtually from the beginning as a town/industry where sexual favors get bartered for glamorous jobs. Sex is the currency of the place; whatever anyone thinks of the morality of this, it's probably a fact of life that's there to stay. Increased exposure of scandals might drive things like this further underground, but it's doubtful that as along as you have a town full of attractive people who'll do anything to succeed, and powerful people who are willing to give them that success in exchange for sexual favors, these things will continue one way or another. It may be human nature in some of its uglier aspects at work, but it's still human nature, and as such it isn't going to be eliminated completely no matter how many crusades are enacted.

However, what should be shocking to us all, is that it is even KIDS that have to give sexual favours, in order to make it big in Hollywood. A city made for making people rich & famous should not be immune from criminal investigation & prosecution.

However, what should be shocking to us all, is that it is even KIDS that have to give sexual favours, in order to make it big in Hollywood. A city made for making people rich & famous should not be immune from criminal investigation & prosecution. When the trade revolves around actual crimes, including child molestation and violent rape, I agree. Once that occurs, the environment has placed itself outside of being an hermetically sealed one and should be answerable to law as it would be anywhere else. Of course, sad to say, it's not simply in Hollywood where wealth, fame, etc. protects the perpetrators form those laws--it's simply more high-profile when it happens in that sphere. Apart from those genuine legal transgressions, though, I feel most of what happens there is in large part consensual--the balance of power may be hugely skewed, but again, that's a not unusual condition outside of the industry either. Those who wish to trade on peddling themselves for career advancement have made their decision, and while it's one I don't agree with, it still remains, however regrettably, one gold standard of that world. No amount of legal legislation is apt to ever change this.
